Upon retiring from the NFL, Davis joined the Packers' staff as Director of Player Development. Davis works for Pierce Manufacturing- an industry leader in fire apparatus. Rob helps lead the company's People First culture efforts as senior director of people and culture. Davis left Pierce Manufacturing in January of 2020 to join former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy with the Dallas Cowboys organization.

Davis is a fixer/babysitter. Player gets into a drunken argument with his girlfriend in public....Davis makes the story go away. Players smokin dem TWEEDS lol, that story never gets written either. He's good at it too.
Uh oh somebody knows somebody....

That is exactly what Davis does and his job is Zeke Elliot....

Listen up, Rob Davis is a brilliant assistant coach hire by McCarthy. It makes perfect sense to hire Davis since he most recently worked for a fire apparatus company. They make and retrofit fire trucks and there will be plenty of fires to put out each season on our team, believe me. I wonder who will be the assistant to the assistant head coach and who the barbecue and domino specialty coaches will be? Arlington Texas is already voting to rename its town Coachland. At this rate Jerry is going to have to have to sell his 250 million dollar yacht and settle for a dingy.

Ok, on a more serious note. This is going to be the deepest and most potent coaching staff in history. Rob Davis may not have coached but based on his background including Packers Director of Player Development for nearly a decade, he knows a thing or to to get the most out of players and make them the best they can be.

I know nothing about Rob Davis other than what is posted on the thread or what I have quickly Googled.

Anyway you slice it, this is an interesting hire. I just wonder if the intent is to manage and support the "whole" individual and not just the player. Maybe this is MM's way of addressing off-field behavior

Rob Davis has not only joined Mike McCarthy's coaching staff in Dallas but his title is assistant head coach, sources said. A surprise considering he's never actually been on a coaching staff. He was director of player development with the Packers, which was under the football operations department.

This sounds like a guy that should be working more under Wil McClay's player personnel/scouting group .. rather than McCarthy's coaching group.
And i'm strongly assuming this does affect McClay's status as the overseer as THE director player of player personnel.

MM is slapping the asst. HC title on him so teams cannot hire him away under the same player personnel title alone.

I read the whole thread and half the posts were about Quentin Tarantino movies. I guess that about sums up how impressed everyone is by this choice.

Does Calvin Hill still work for the team? This almost sounds like Big Mike creating his own version of Calvin Hill's development, mentor and cleaner role... but with someone loyal to him, not Jerry.
