Has Amari Cooper played his last game under the Dallas Cowboys’ star?

This is stupid. Stephen and Co will franchise or sign him longterm. We gave a 1st rounder for him and he played as such. He’ll be a Cowboy.
To me when you trade a first you make the decision to sign the guy before you trade
I think jerry will get this done

Yep. It would look pretty bad to trade a 1st and only get 1 1/2 seasons out of the guy. The exception would be if we won the Super Bowl during that time, but alas, we did not.

Surely Cooper would rather go somewhere he doesn’t have to make acrobatics catches. Lol

He just hadn’t look like he wants to be here.
He's been more productive with Dallas than with Oakland. Besides, while it's true that Dak can throw behind a receiver a little more often than he should, it's not at all fair to say that having to make acrobatic catches is the standard, or that a receiver cannot be successful in Dallas without making a lot of acrobatic catches.

The trade was also about saving Daks career.

Where would we be with Dak if 2018 finished how it begun without Amari? 3 straight seasons without making playoffs.

I think the trade was twofolds in saving Dak , the season and potentially being the piece needed for a deeper run. I’m not sure it was intended to be long term.

Flawed logic. I get you need to preach the Dak line, but every team in the NFL needs WRs that play at a high level.

His first two seasons in Oakland were Pro Bowl worthy. We thought he was good enough to give up a 1st.

The ability to make Acrobatic catches certainly helps.

Would we be in the same place as we are now with Dak?

That's a hindsight viewpoint because In 2018 it would have only been 2 straight seasons if we hadn't made the playoffs - we didn't yet know about 2019.

As for it not being for long term, I disagree with that. First because Jerry is very protective of his high draft picks, and the team has been very committed to building through the draft over the last 5-6 years, therefore it seems unlikely the trade would have been made if they didn't think Cooper could be a building block. In addition, how could the trade have been just to get a short term piece for a deeper run when at the time of the trade the Cowboys were 3-4 and even making the playoffs at all was in doubt? It seems much more likely to me that the trade was made because the team realized that it had screwed up and let the WR group go to hell in a handbasket and they desperately needed to address the situation.

Finally, what would be the point of "saving Dak" if they didn't think Dak was the right guy for the job and needed receivers to help him and the Cowboys win games? There would be no incentive simply to "save Dak" just for the hell of it. The point would have been to build a team around him that the Cowboys could be successful with, which obviously is about more than just Dak.

Yes, they were Pro-Bowl worthy, and he has surpassed that level in Dallas, so it doesn't make much sense to think he would believe he needs to be somewhere else to succeed. And yes, being able to make an acrobatic catch helps, but that is true of any receiver in the NFL.

2019 stats look very similar to his 2015 and 2016 stats in Oakland.

But I’d agree he looks better since he almost single handed saved our 2018 season and probably Daks career.

It's pretty simple, we needed a true number 1 WR.
