Has Amari Cooper played his last game under the Dallas Cowboys’ star?

That's a hindsight viewpoint because In 2018 it would have only been 2 straight seasons if we hadn't made the playoffs - we didn't yet know about 2019.

As for it not being for long term, I disagree with that. First because Jerry is very protective of his high draft picks, and the team has been very committed to building through the draft over the last 5-6 years, therefore it seems unlikely the trade would have been made if they didn't think Cooper could be a building block. In addition, how could the trade have been just to get a short term piece for a deeper run when at the time of the trade the Cowboys were 3-4 and even making the playoffs at all was in doubt? It seems much more likely to me that the trade was made because the team realized that it had screwed up and let the WR group go to hell in a handbasket and they desperately needed to address the situation.

Finally, what would be the point of "saving Dak" if they didn't think Dak was the right guy for the job and needed receivers to help him and the Cowboys win games? There would be no incentive simply to "save Dak" just for the hell of it. The point would have been to build a team around him that the Cowboys could be successful with, which obviously is about more than just Dak.
That’s a big part of what we do on fan forums. Hindsight.

I’m excited we’re going to over pay Dak and pay Amari top 5 money.

I knew our OL was about a third of our cap this year. How much of our cap will be on offense after signing Zeke and the expected signings of Dak and Cooper.

This QB and offense will definitely be expected to carry this team to the playoffs without having much left to invest on defense.

We need to sign Amari and even add another good possession receiver, IMO.

Yes, we look back at results, but we can’t act as if the Cowboys made made a decision in the middle of the 2018 seasoon partially based on info not available until after the 2019 season.

Let’s let go of a top 3 player with a new regime on board where the HC loves WR’s. Great plan!

Pretty informative. Seems like Cooper's being honest about his thought process

https://www.al.com/sports/2020/01/h...-last-game-under-the-dallas-cowboys-star.html

“I don’t think it’s all about money,” Cooper said about his offseason options. "... If you’re a highly touted free agent, you’re going to get paid a lot of money no matter where you go. Is it worth it to go somewhere that you probably don’t want to go as far as -- you might be a guy like me who’s from South Florida who’s never played a game in the snow?"

"Is it worth a million dollars more a year or two million dollars more a year, especially if you're taking care of your money investment-wise? Is it worth that to be in an environment that you don't want to be in? Or would you like to stay somewhere in the South? It's not all about money."
He's not going anywhere.

Right and where hindsight comes in.

Well there’s this whole global warming thing supposedly, maybe it is a thing
Climate Change is a real thing. It’s the causes, effects and solutions which are more often debated.

In general only some Americans influenced by Fossil Fuel lobbyists are in denial while rest of the world concur.

Yeah, but you used the suggestion that they would have lost the division 3 times in a row as evidence they got Cooper to “save Dak” even though the division hadn’t yet been decided in 2 of those 3 years, therefore it isn’t evidence at all of why the Cowboys got Cooper.

Interesting.

So now we have a new contract analytic thanks to Amari.

$2 mil add for cold weather team signing..

$1 mil deduct for warm weather team signing..

What about teams with state income tax or no income tax?

Adding that to my retirement metric.

What ever happened to my high school slide rule anyway?

I always thought I was so cool when I learned how to use mine. Then electronic calculators came out and slide rules went in my desk forever.

Oh my..

It amazes me how often a joke gets missed by people on this board.

I know some come here with an agenda.
Those people try to ruin the board.
Others want to be serious. As if they have all the answers.
That's fine, and at times, very informative.
The posters I enjoy are the people who keep it light-hearted.
It's like we're just having a beer and cracking jokes that have
a little truth in them once in a while.
It shouldn’t amaze you that jokes get lost in text or in a forum setting. Especially the jokes that aren’t funny and have to be explained.

Throw in games against NFC North or AFC East or AFC North or AFC West and you have yourself a possibility of 5 or more games in cold weather.
Well it is not just playing games in the cold or snow lol , he would have to live there too during the season.

It had to be explained to you that not wanting to sign Cooper because of his
facial expression was a joke?

You're right though. I shouldn't be amazed.
