The only criticism of Romo is that he never played on a team that made a run in the playoffs. His career is a stark reminder that football is a team sport and coaching matters.
Overall I’d agree. But he had two seasons in which he was basically one possession away from making a championship game. So, saying he never had an opportunity is debatable.

Some are reading into this too much.

It's a compliment. Sherman was drafted in 2011, well after Romo reigned in his improvisational style.

Tony Romo's standout attribute was his elusiveness. Something Sherman saw first hand in 2014 when Romo bought time and converted that 3rd and forever pass to TWill on the game winning drive. Also, they faced Romo the week after Romo famously baffled JJ Watt. Sherman surely saw that tape, too.

Mahomes has also kind of mastered that last second 'peel away' to leave pass rushers scratching their heads.

You flunked football if you think they do.

Mahomes stats actually happen against good teams when the outcome is still in doubt.
It was a joke - there can't be less than nothing … get it?

He’s simply the best in the NFL at this time.

Chiefs will be a serious contender for the next decade with him.

Yes. If there is a reason to root against KC that is it. As much as I dont want the 9ers to get #6, I get the distinct feeling KC is setting up to become one of the leagues elite franchises over the next decade.

I know I am way ahead of myself, but Mahomes and the KC offense look like a threat that isnt going away anytime soon. This isn't about how great the team is. Its about having a prolific QB in a perfect scheme.

I remember when Brady first took over and the Pats had been so bad for so long I was actually pulling for them to win one. Little did I know Id grow to hate them.

Some people will never get over the fact that Romo was replaced. Never.

People just can't seem to get on with their lives.

Not sure how purist football fans can hate greatness despite whether you root against their teams?

Some of my favorite QB’s to watch in NFL history were on teams I rooted against.

The worst GM in the NFL thought he had found lighting in a bottle with 4th round comp pick (Dak) and did away with his PROVEN Franchise QB.
Welcome to GM Jerry 101 where losing and ineptness is our cornerstone for 25 years and counting!!!!

Once Mahomes starts counting $40M-$50M against the cap, it will be tougher to put playmakers around him. So I'm not sure KC can dominate for a decade.

So far, only Belichek has been able to sustain dominance over a long period during the cap era. But he's a unicorn. Plus Brady took less money to help field competitive teams.

Once KC starts losing playmakers because of the cap, it will be interesting to see what happens. Mahomes is great though. I love watching him play.

2 out of 3 ain't bad. He must be talking about Romo improvisation and not his ability to win big games. He could be predicting the crucial interception that he will pick off and KC loses the Super Bowl. That would be Romo like.

No, that's not it. He's talking about the ability to make plays out of nothing and keeping his eyes downfield. Mahomes doesn't look to run, just like Romo didn't when he was young. He's looking to buy time to make plays, and he's really elusive in the pocket like Romo.

Mahomes has a Rodgers-like arm. He throws with such ease.

He has Wilson-like presence and ability to run.

He has Romo's ability to feel pressure with his eyes still downfield, escape it, find his feet, and deliver the ball on target again and again from different arm angles.
Good summation.

Such a huge fan of Romo, wish his career had a championship. There are a ton of current and former players that don't share the Cowboys Zone and media narrative of Romo as a player. Although he isn't "elite" he is very respected as a player in League circles.

Didn't say he didn't have opportunity. In 2007, the OL couldn't block the giants DL. In 2014, he got robbed on Dez's infamous non-catch. If he had won one those games or just made a super bowl appearance, he has a strong case for the HOF.
