I like the sound of this..at least in theory

https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/...4LW-ME1yvBLx7Xj8R1h8FVcueVC121kthusgwPet5TThA

"Players don't care how much you know until they know how much you care," he said.

He'll likely be the conduit between player and organization for issues outside of on-field strategy or technique. The NFL is a results-based business and can be merciless in terms of any one player's status and livelihood. That extreme pressure can take a toll with players, and Davis hopes to mentor them as individuals who can handle adversity. It's a role that will benefit not only the current roster but future rookies and young players. …………...

After a decade under a previous regime, many of the player holdovers for the Cowboys have been anxious to meet, work with and learn more about McCarthy. It sounds like Davis will be a part of their lives even more immediately.

"We want to individually meet each of those men, talk a little bit about their professional and personal expectations, and try to help them reach their goals," Davis said. "We walk into this league as young men and hopefully leave as older men. Most guys know how to play football. They've just never been professional football players."

wow, glad to see hes doing something productive, this can really help keep a lot of guys with better heads. way to go on this idea.

I agree! In fact I think the locker room was a bigger issue than just some schemes. It was kind of hidden for 10 years but I never felt like they were buying in to anything that was making them better. Seemed like splintered agendas at times even though they never tanked, they also never fully grew. I'd like to see a different tact.

i agree, plus if they players feel they are taking more seriously, they will play harder. I really like the idea, it will help stop locker rooms going toxic and frankly i feel it tells the players the organization or at least the caoching staff wants to hear from them instead of just on a job performance.

Any great successful organizations or companies have many moving parts that tackle each avenue to ensure success. The hiring of Rob Davis shows that McCarthy is letting good and qualified men shoulder some of the load that comes with coaching and or being part of a team.

This is something that all of us should be on board with considering we had a coach in Garrett whom gave very little nurturing empowerment to his coaching staff. Garrett thought he could do it all even though he was only the master of manipulation. All of these moves are reason for hope and excitement and it's far surpassing my wildest dreams considering what we've been through as fans with this team as Garrett navigating the ship.

First thing I Hope happens is Lawrence and Smith are no longer team captains. Talk about two guys who don’t give a crap about team.

Individual commitment to group effort. Having a unified locker room is a good start towards success.

idk if he can help or how to even do it but i wish someone could make the dallas cowboys roster perform greater than the sum of their parts instead of always being an underachieving team with a bunch of individuals who seem more worried about themself and their brand.

i was actually jealous of flores and the dolphins because of how they played and won games despite being out talented every single game.

Though I’m still not certain what exactly his role is going to be with regards to player locker room, coaching, and player development.

Is Davis supposed to be Rich Dalrymple 2.0 ?

Or is he the inside reporting “ mole “ for the Head Coach ?

But whatever it be, it's such that M&M wants no other NFL team to inquire about his services to make him asst HC.

And apparently it’s not a new role, as McCarthy seems to be quite familiar in working with him in the Packers dayz.

Thought I read where a current Cowboy and former Packer describing him as a "legend' but
no other explanatory detail.

The little cliques like the "Hit Squad" and the "Hotboyz" need to stop. This team is so divided they can't possibly be effective as one unit, and they aren't. If Rob Davis can help these players unify as one unit(Cowboys), and stop this need to subdivide into these cliques, I'm all for it.

That's how I knew we were on to something in 1989 despite only winning 1 game. Horrendous talent besides a couple of guys but always going full tilt. That was one of my favorite teams just because they'd get knocked around...Troy to the chin vs Cardinals...but would be all effort despite the talent deficit.

And it’s not a new role, as Rob Davis was apparently instrumental in McCarthy’s days as Packers HC.

I hope he’s not a mole

can’t survive in a professional locker room as a mole

I'm thinking less mole and more guy who can "express" to the HC and others what the locker room dynamic is and in return be an ear for them so they aren't dividing staff, fellow teammates etc. I'm assuming this role came about due to some talk on what the locker room was like before.
