Craig Morton was no slouch either. when we won the SB in 77 he was one of our QB's, the 2nd stringer. THIRD STRING WAS DANNY WHITE, a rookie. lol.. We had 3 starters at the QB position that year, any of which were very capable. WOW!

Id wager it depends on who you grew up watching. I was 12 or so when Aikman was drafted and my memories of him are as good as it gets. Id take Troy again in a heartbeat.

ahhh...theres a drop off, but I don't think its by much. Danny White did lead this franchise to several NFC Title games. At least 3 times. The Eagles absolutely killed us in the 80 Title Game. But the others we came a hair away from winning, then maybe we would be rating Danny White higher.

Also, Danny White got hozed by the refs in the NFC title game in 1981. Doug Cosbie was totally interfered with in the endzone on what would have been a touchdown pass. The refs missed it. They settled for a field goal when they should have had a new set of downs on the 1. With those 4 points, the stinkin' "catch" would have been meaningless. Then after that bleepin' catch, the team was moving the ball and only 10 yards from field goal range with the best kicker in the league, but Danny White's "fumble" was actually an incomplete forward pass. White so got hozed. I've never been so upset at a football game. It drives me nuts that those plays are never included in the NFL's worst referee calls. Granted, some other teams have gotten hozed too.

Brittle like Romo and then go an Aikman would be 2nd. I love Aikman but the joke for a while in his career Troy Acheman he only played 16 games 3 times in his 11 years.
I said Roger wasn’t brittle. I put Aikman 2nd because he was accurate and showed up in big moments.

You're holding the first overall pick in this draft and you have an opportunity to draft any Cowboys QB from current and past Cowboys' history. Who's draft card are you submitting?

I'm taking Staubach.
Is this a trick question? I think I will draft the President award wining, Heisman trophy winning, wait the years for his Navy commitment and still draft him no.1 overall. Leaders, athletes, and winners like Staubach do not grow on trees. Tom Landry with Staubach 2-2 in Super Bowls and 0-1 with no other Super Bowl appearance without Staubach.

Aikman. You'd get 20 years out of him under todays QB protection rules. His pinpoint accuracy also suits the modern game.
If anything, asking him to drop back and throw as many times as modern NFL offenses ask their QB to throw means that he'd be exposed way more and get hit even more often, so his career would quite likely be shorter.

Troy's shelf life wouldn't be extended by the fact that defenders would get flagged more when they concuss him or when they hurt his back. Go ask Andrew Luck or Alex Smith or RGIII if the current rules are any kind of a guarantee of remaining healthy.

Also worth mentioning? I'm not sure how well Troy would even take to modern NFL offenses in the first place. Dude helped shove Chan Gailey out the door after he modernized and revitalized our offense, because he felt too uncomfortable in the new system and wanted to go back to the stale old stuff.

Just think of the Dallas QBs who won Heismans. Two I can think of and 5 that were finalist.

Ryan Leaf. Give him time to develop and put some talent around him and he goes far. If he wouldn't have hurt his wrist he could've been something.

Agreed. I think our crisis team could have helped him better than the Chargers did.
