Honestly, I don’t think people are taking the $40mm signal from Dak’s camp in the right context. The hold up is ultimately about number of years. If Dak is going to accept the $34mm-$36mm (the going rate for QBs of his skill level he will not accept a contract for longer than 4-5 years. The $40mm amount is a response to a 6-7 year deal that Jones wants Dak to sign. The number of years and guarantees is going to drive the final price. That is smart of Dak given how close this deal is to the new TV contract negotiations.
