<Then>
I may stop-and-look for the VF video to post later.
<Now>

Totally forgot Eilish cusses like a sailor. LOL!

Will not be posting the video for that reason but here is the link for anyone interested:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v==YltHGKX80Y8

Copy-and-paste the entire link in a browser window address line and remove the extra equal sign (=).

Caution. The video is 24 minutes long so ignore it if you have a short attention span. :p

Grammys dont seem to carry any weight. Oscars and Tony's are probably the only entertainment awards that still have prestige.

Not counting literary awards of course

Speaking of carrying weight, did you see the performance by Lizzo. If you didn't, no worries because all of the other stuff on there it stunk as well.

Music today is such garbage. I feel bad kids have to grow up during this time. It's just empty nothingness, from rock to pop to country.

My own kids agree with me, as do most who have been exposed to different eras of music. What happened to rock music? Is Imagine Dragons the closest we have now? Where is George Strait or Whitney Houston or Prince or Journey or Led Zeppelin or New Edition or Alice in Chains or Nine Inch Nails? There used to be so much interesting and diverse music. Now it's just childish crap.

Oh, and very nice of the Grammy folks to misspell the name of Ric Ocasek in the memoriam feature. Speaks to the polish of these folks, or lack thereof.

Yeah let’s go back to the 60’s and 70’s when absolute masterpieces like Yummy Yummy Yummy were topping the charts.

Again, looking back in a vacuum and completely ignoring good music of today.

That's the point. Good music isn't promoted today. You have to dig deep to find it.

And yes, every decade had its crap. But today is so much worse.

Here's to a different decade. Thr industry is suffering, so perhaps they'll rethink it.

Didn't watch/not a fan. However, I was quite intrigued on why our DE didn't just "remove the extra equal sign (=)" before posting?! :lmao:

And btw, just why hasn't 1910 Fruitgum Company been inducted into the R&R HOF? "Goody Goody Gumdrops" should get them in all by itself.

I recall the people in the sweet spot for the 80's remarking about that will never match the 70's and the same thing happened in the 90's. Can't compare "The Awakening of Music" in the 60's and 70's with what has followed. The Top 40 radio format was founded in the 60's, the Album Rock in the 70's which would morph into Classic Rock as rock splintered off into Active Rock and Alternative Rock. Rap was born and the sweet soul music of the 60's and 70's dissipated and that morphed into Hip Hop. Country splinters into standards and New Country and in this area Red Dirt as well.

In the 90's, when Grunge became the thing, I gave it a quick listen and said "nah, out of here" and some 20 years later actually listened to it and was disappointed that I had turned my back on it as well as the 80's electronic movement and weird hairdos that I love today. I didn't want anyone screwing with my rock music but didn't stop to consider where the artists and composers of the 60's and 70's had already taken it and opened the door for those who followed.

Like I said, there is some great music out there and some artists really pushing the boundaries and not being record label bound by some A&R person interested in units. What do you think Sturgill Simpson's label thought about the 2017 Country Artist of the Year's latest, "Sound and Fury"?

The music is there and there's more of it than ever because the record labels don't control them anymore, they don't tell them what we'd like. The artists leave it up to us to find them and what was once considered the copout in acoustic music, electronics, is now considered an art form unto itself. They have the music in them too. Just need to find a way to get that out.

If anyone thinks today's music sucks or is not as good as what used to be, stop being spoon fed and feed yourself. There is so much that you can't possibly get full.

I listened to it, gave it a shot. Made me want to commit suicide. Honestly, what's the attraction?

Hmmmm.....good music. I experienced this tour. Guess we have different philosophies on what defines music.

From the I Forgot To Mention Department:

The movie Brightburn end credits roll with a few riffs from Eilish's Bad Guy. The movie was so-so but I really liked the music at the end (because he was one bad <expletive> kid WITH super powers) and wondered where it originated. It was about a month later when I heard the complete song on the radio for the first time that I connected it with the artist. Who knew I would have gotten a clue of the following year Grammys' Song Of The Year winner, after hearing it at the end of a lackluster movie months beforehand? lol.
