Interesting since Aikman had Turner present him and gave him the majority of the credit for his and the offense's success. But, I like it. Maybe he can take a couple of jabs at Booger for not having him in the ROH.

Aikman could give Turner credit for offense and still give Jimmy credit for the overall team and creating an environment for Turner and the offense to do their thing.

Aikman was pretty vocal about how the overall team discipline and accountability went to hell when Jimmy left and Switzer took over.

Sounds about right. No one better than Troy to be Jimmy's HOF presenter. Would have been nice to see Jerry be a part of it, but it's obvious there is still some kind of feud going on between Jerry and Jimmy. Sad.

lol, I guess he's looking more about how things turned out than Jimmy's decision at that time.

Or he could say.....if Jimmy kept Steve instead of me, we would not be here today....or....if Jimmy kept Steve instead of me, I would be introducing a different coach today.....
:lmao:

I read and article from publication that we can't post here where Aikman said he was concerned after the draft knowing he had turned down Jimmy 2 times when being recruited out of high school. After the Walsh pick he even considering demanding he get traded. Now of course things turned out different and I do think Troy has great respect but there was a time of a lot of doubt on the part of Troy.

Not surprising considering Troy jumped ship and left Oklahoma for UCLA during college.

It sure would be nice if both JJs put their differences aside. Jimmy should be in the ROH and Jerry should be his HOF presenter because he brought Jimmy into the league. I know Troy will do a great job and I have no problem with that. I just wish this foolish feud would stop. Two big egos and this is the result.

Aikman was told offense would be changing from the Wishbone to a more pass friendly offense. Troy would never have made it as a wishbone QB, in the end it worked out better for OU and for Aikman as well as UCLA

I would not be shocked to see Jimmy added to the ROH this year to celebrate his induction into the HOF.

He really did in his Football Life show
And he was exactly right
We have had same issues since Parcells
Hopefully jerry has learned from his failure

That was after he was injured. Switzer had agreed to change the offense to get the #1 recruit in OK and the #1 QB overall. Switzer had to resort back to the triple option and even tried to get Aikman to Miami...with Jimmy Johnson.

I've never heard Johnson's explanation of why he wasn't sold on Aikman at Miami or Dallas. He preferred Walsh both times but Johnson was not an O guy, all about the D. He wanted James Francis and CIN took him so he fell back on Emmitt. Taking Aikman with that pick wasn't even a choice, they had to do that.

I have wondered if he stuck Aikman out there his rookie year behind the 5 Matadors because he didn't think he was the guy? I have yet to see any rookie QB take the beating Aikman took in 1989 and his resilience and professionalism with the media might have opened Johnson's eyes.

As Cowboys fans, we've been fortunate, and spoiled, with two of the very best to ever play the game and Meredith, White and Romo were nothing to sneeze at either.

We were in the dark about the white house and extracurricular activities back then but we should have seen the writing on the wall with Switzer saying they're men and I am going to treat them as men and his history at OU. Jimmy was always happy Barry was at OU when he was at OSU to keep the light off him and his band of merry men.
