I really was not aware of all that.

Kiffen yes..the rest not so much. So thanks for all that.

Bottom line for all of that is Garrett never stood on his own in Dallas. And to go 10 years with that..

OMG.

I am just hoping Jerrah does not screw up this McCarthy regime. Jerrah had his disagreements with Parcells over TO..

certainly with Jimster..

Phillips..

Hopefully Stephen is going to assert himself more and sit Daddy in his easy chair on his boat and play Madden to satisfy his need to run his team.

I think he's currently smitten with McCarthy so we have at least a window of time where we will have a honeymoon period, and I think we're seeing that now with McCarthy getting everything and everyone that he wants for the staff. How long that lasts is anyone's guess but I'm betting we get at least two to three years of peace, and more than that if there's accompanying success in the win and playoff columns.

wrong ? really ?

"It's possible, of course, that owner and de facto general manager Jerry Jones wanted to keep Moore at all costs and made McCarthy agree to relinquish the play-calling duties as a condition of his hiring. Jones essentially groomed Garrett to become the team's head coach after he came up through the organization as a bright offensive mind, so it's possible he's taking a similar approach with Moore.

It's also possible McCarthy simply evaluated the Dallas offense and decided against interfering too much with a unit that had success.

"Between us, we can take this offense forward another step," he said Thursday of his pairing with Moore, per ESPN's Todd Archer. "

That article has nothing but speculation

you'd be really pipe- dreaming if you think McCarthy' arrival is gonna stop Jerruh from doing the locker room interviews. ... this is the same Jerruh that
people asked Jerruh when Parcells was introduced as the new HC , if Jerruh was gonna continue to walk and be on the sidelines .

..... to wish Jones replied " Well, its' still my sidelines !

regardless of the HC of Cowboys is,.that's just NOT gonna ever change until Jones can no longer physically do so.
McCarthy had to know that before coming in the door.
In your earlier post about Stephen and his role vs. his dad..

I found this..

------------------------------
Not signing the tag may be about all Prescott can do, but he knows that it is likely a very effective tactic. Given the way it took Elliott a few games to get up to speed, it is also likely that the Jones family, given the greater role Jerry’s son Stephen now has, will be motivated to avoid letting things drag out.

----------------------------

This was posted today. So take whatever fits your points.

Stephen will have his impact in the days ahead and it will be different from Pop.

Whispers from the Star for 01/31/20 Friday - Per Jean Jacque Taylor 103.3 ESPN radio Jam Session

Highlights:

- Why hasn't Kris Richard been hired yet ? - what were the plus and minus of Kris Richard

- why hasn't other departed Cowboys assistants been hired yet (Gary Brown, Sandray Lal, Ben Bloom, Greg jackson)

- Is Kellen Moore (Time Based offense) vs Mike McCarthy (West Coast offense) are a future
conflicting recipe for disaster ?
Richard is just a middling coach. He has a good year in 2018 that raised his profile. After 2019, he wasnt gonna get any HC jobs and even DC jobs were very unlikely. He was always going to have to go back to being a secondary coach. Maybe JJT is right and he gets the SF passing game coordinator job. Thats the best he will be able to do right now in regards to the NFL

Moore was working within Garrett's offense.

We don't know what he prefers.

When Moore was the All Time wins leader for college QBs, was the weak armed Moore likey to attempt the Aikman style or the Joe Montana style?

The true "timing based" offense requires 20 yard out route passes thrown like bullets.

The West Coast offense made a average at best arm strength QB into the greatest (or top 2) QB of all time.

JJT...tell me again how Kellen Moore ran an Aikman style offense in college...or is the claim that he abandoned what he did in college to run an opposite scheme as a coordinator?

Where JJT is confused is that Dak functions best a structured offense. In that regard he fits into the Aikman mindset.

Aikman: Extreme Structure. Required precise route running.

Romo: Opposite of Aikman. Success based on Ad-Lib style.

Romo made Dez rich.

Aikman would have had Jimmy ship Dez to the Browns after one practice...
Seemed like what Moore ran in college was closer to MM’s style than Garrett’s with lots of trickery lol

When MM was brought in I felt the big plus was him bringing in his WCO. I thought the RBs would do well in MM's, but I'll just have to wait and see what they cook up. Cool thing is Kellen has a HC with skins on the wall to collaborate with.

What's standing out to me is that this is two weeks in a row that JJT has advanced the notion that Garrett was easily swindled by smooth talking coaches. So much irony.

I don't think teams have the kind of security in place to bring Ben Bloom in for an interview.

The big problem was that neither Garrett nor Jones knew where to find good assistants, or coaches good enough to make up for Garrett's own shortcomings.

You would see them try, and the assistants with new fresh ideas would head elsewhere. This comment is apt, more so I think on the defensive side.

This is no knock on folks like Marinelli (who is talented) or Bill Callahan. We did have talent. But often we settled on 'experience' rather than innovation, or the Belichick style 'grind that results in brilliance'.
Perhaps a few less ex HCs and few more QC guys would help.

I mean, we switched from a 3-4 to a 4-3 on the effects of the brilliance of the Seattle defense, and it took literally years to get a single person from that team. And rather than get someone versed in the Seattle front and Cover 3,
we dipped into the past and pulled out masters of the Tampa 2. Bit of a bait and switch there.

Oh my god this guy embellishes sooo much. Just tell me the information without all the drama added on dude you’re not Chris Rock no matter how hard you try to sound like him.

Also, he’s got a lot of disputable info here:

-Ben Bloom wasn’t scared of Richard, he tried to fight him. In fact, he was sent home and designated as “sick” and didn’t make the trip to New England due to an altercation over how Jaylon Smith was being used and coached (not being held accountable as a captain).

-The source said his issue was being a workable personality off the field, but he was an elite coach. Why is he saying that Richards on-field intensity is leading to him not having a job? The source you quoted said “off the field”

-Richard has never had the authority or success of the other high intensity guys JJT compared him to. Obviously players and fellow coaches will respond different to him than Parcells

Mussolini was not evil if compared to Hitler...

JJT not terrible compared to SAS...

JJT frustrates me. I think I see ambition in his work. I bought his book and read it. But I'd not put his book into the top 5 that any Cowboy's fan should read. Pete Golenbock he is not.
But the reality is, Peter's book is 22 years old..

I thought lal did a good job. The rest sucked.

I look at this:

And wonder if Lai wasn't in the wrong place at the wrong time. Receivers making mistakes all over the place.
For those unfamiliar with the QB School, JT O'Sullivan is a former NFL QB, mostly backup, but started for the 49ers during Mike Nolan's stay there.
