There will be other teams interested for sure..this is going to get ugly and disrupt all of next season unless something is done

'Other teams interested'? Sure. 'Other teams' offering the money he wants? Not so sure. 'Other teams' with the same high profile? No. 'Other teams' with the same off-field and financial perks? Absolutely not. 'Other teams' with the running backs, receivers, and offensive line that this one has? None.

So he should just be careful in what he wishes for, or demands. He has it pretty good here too.

I don't find this surprising. Last year was supposed to be a "show me" year for Dak, but the Cowboys failed miserably with respect to expectations, a major reason due to coaching ineptitude. I think this new season will take on that role again for him, except this time the organization expects the same as last year with legitimate coaching in place. I think last year's poor result muddled the decision making process as it comes to him. I won't be surprised if the Cowboys draft a QB high, in the second round or so.

We don't have a better QB behind Prescott because we haven't valued the backup QB position for quite some time.

You don't do this with a franchise QB, you take that hit. The most logical thing here is that Dak is waiting for the Mahomes contract, which will probably be an historic QB contract. We'll franchise Dak and continue contract talks from there.

Dak is a franchise QB? lol....

If he's trying to look for another team with our talent good luck with that.

They tagged DLaw last year before signing him to an extension. Don't be surprised when that happens with Dak.

how is it a spin if it’s a direct quote from Dak?

The direct quote from Dak is telling him he'll have discussions about his agent when it comes to tagging/contract talks....which is a no-brainer. He was then pushed on what he'll do if tagged, and Dak told him to "report that". Which even Fischer then went on to speculate if it's a "wink" - there is literally nothing there that says Dak will holdout. AT MOST it's you reading between the lines, it's not clear at all.

He said it, out of his own mouth on Dan Patrick and Rich Eisen shows.

Can you link me to this? Because what I just got linked was Dak telling Fisher he'll "talk to his agent" and to "report that".

Prescott would be the first QB in, I don't know how long, to holdout. You can still tag and negotiate - basically you get guaranteed money to still be able to get the contract you want.

This is the direct quote from Prescott in that article from a coupe days ago: "We'll get to that when we get to that,'' Prescott said. “I look forward to talking to my agents and when that (franchise tag) comes to play, the direction that we’ll go. Until that’s a reality, I won’t worry about it.

I hope we know by draft day the status of Dak's contract situation in case a good QB prospect is available

That's why if you're Dak's agent you take your sweet time to force Stephen's hand. You either get a deal done with Dak or risk going into the season with a rookie or veteran retread. The team clearly needs defense taken high versus a gamble on a less sure thing in a QB. So Dak's leverage only increases the closer we get to the draft.

Dak's agent planned Dak's hold-out when Jerrah bent over in Zeke's hold-out .

Expect 40 million off the cap for Dak, fellows.

High 2nd rounder but get your point in immediate impact. Taco gives me the okay on drafting a QB in the 1st if it presents itself.
Yeah but there’s only one Taco. Check out their other first round picks. You can’t let Taco dictate your next move. Just gotta learn from it.

I think this will be worked out one way or the other but there's at least a chance this can unravel and lead to Prescott playing elsewhere and that's what I'm hoping for.

It's a longshot but it's all I got.

It would be interesting to see how Dak does elsewhere while the Cowboys front office looks for the next Paxton Lynch.

Jerry might even pull off the trade this time.
