Jerrah should get the non-exclusive franchise tag on Prescott , and in the hold-out trade him for 2 first round picks . (Don't matter if they aren't top 10).

Then with those 3 first round picks, trade up for a franchise QB .
IMO...no team is giving 2 first round picks for Dak but I totally agree and hope for your scenario.

You asked who Romo lead to 1,500 receiver. I said To and Dez did, not an earthquake shift in discussion? Dak almost did w/Amari...now back to sq one.? If a receiver was banking on FA, I think Dak would be the latter guys providing those stats.
But TO and Dez never had 1500 yards.

In regards to your last question......I’m not sure what your asking? Cooper was in his last year and is about to get paid. Randall Cobb should get a nice deal. Cole Beasley got a nice deal.....not sure what your point is.

Dak doesn’t elevate anyone? Cobb and Cooper has their best seasons in years. Gallup went from third round pick to a 1k receiver. That’s elevation.

Cobb was injured for like 3 season straight.. he was either missing games, or playing hurt. So hard to evaluate that.
Gallup, was thought of as a great receiver that was a surprise to get in the 3rd round.

Cooper... was hurt and playing hurt a lot in the season before he came to Dallas...

So who really knows...

Cooper though, definitely doing better with the Cowboys. I just don't get why he is so great one minute, and disappears. Many times when he disappears
it isn't even the coverage taking him out of the game. So that is either on him, Dak or both.

If he's trying to look for another team with our talent good luck with that.

What choice does he have? Unless he throws for 5,000 and has 45 TDs...that may very well happen.

There is always a choice. Prescott will not be forced to play - the main reason QBs don't hold out is because they hold the leverage, no team is going to go into a season with a #2 QB when they have a starter on the bench. QB position is too valuable. Jerry would lose in this situation and would cough up the money.

You're better off just letting him hit the market.

The goof didn’t just start. It stated when they let Wentz and Goff sign. Then it started when they decided to offer 35 million after the fact. It takes two sides to tango but Jerry and co. definitely screwed it up initially.

Neither of us knows who did what when to say who screwed it up initially, or who's screwing it up now.

Like I said, it takes two sides to make a deal.

They're so confident in Prescott that they won't give the young "great" QB the contract he wants. Yet, they gave an aging and injury prone Romo a contract.

This says a lot more than any of the babble that comes out of Jerry and Stephen. They aren't confident in what they have in Prescott.

Romo was aging and injury prone in 2012???

No, they didn't want him. That's why they never signed him to a franchised deal!

Fair enough. I'm not going to swear by my opinion. We all have them. I don't think your position is unreasonable either. We'll see how everything pans out.

I’ve never heard they didn’t want him. Even in this article it contradicts what you’re

But but but all last season we kept hearing how Dak is going to get paid and the everyone who doesnt like it can eat crow.
This is hilarious! I hope he gets the franchise tag.
He’s about to get 27-33 million isn’t he? Isn’t that getting paid?

I have no idea either. Seems to be mental with him.

That depends on dak's asking price. Could be it's just ridiculous. Only certainty is that no one knows what dak is asking. Stephen won't lose the farm for one prized cow. And I suspect money has far more to do with the situation than the fo opinion of dak. Nothing else makes sense.

More posturing... Dak says he won’t report to camp if tagged— Cowboys FO is saying they are willing to call his bluff and use the tag.

The truth is Dak won’t miss camp, but wants the FO to believe he would, and the FO wants to get the deal done, but need Dak’s agent to believe they will hold the line and use the tag if they need to.

Both camps playing hardball and trying to gain whatever leverage they can... deal has a very good chance to get done prior to the deadline.

Why? Way too many other contracts to consider and you need to know Dak’s contract value in order to sign other players

Yes? He played 2 more (not even full) seasons after 2012. Both of those seasons he battled injuries. 2015 and 2016 he was barely on the field.

True. But in 2012 none of that happened yet and Romo was still young as far as QB's are concerned. The Cowboys and everybody else expected Romo to play out that six year contract.

Tag Dak and draft a QB ins the first or second round. Then have a competition in training camp while shopping Dak. Won't be to his benefit to lose in that scenario so he probably signs. If he sits and loses his job then his value plummets for several reasons.

How do you know who goofed this up? Dak turned down a Russell Wilson contract, so it's as easy for me to believe that he is asking for something unreasonable as it is to believe the Cowboys are lowballing or whatever. I tend to believe the truth is somewhere in the middle. Some people seem to think Jerry should give Dak whatever he wants if the FO really thinks Dak is a franchise QB. The reactions will be interesting if that turns out to be four years for $160m and $120m guaranteed.
That’s incorrect. They offered him a deal that he wanted initially but offered a year later. That’s a goof up. Letting Wentz and Goff set the market? Goof up. They screwed this up from the get go and have been.

Did they not offer him 34-35 million after he asked for that initially and they didn’t want to give it to him? How’s that not a goof up? How is letting Wentz and Goff set the market not a goof up?
