EXACTLY. We take a bigger cap hit now as well, if we tag him rather than sign him. I wouldn't be shocked one bit now if we tag then trade him on draft day. Hate to get conspiracy's going,but what if we are trying to package him to Cincy so we can draft Burrow? Would JJ and MM do that? Likely not, but I can't help but wonder.

They may be asking for 38-41 per year and maybe even some huge stupid chunk up front that would hinder us greatly. Jerry has shown he's willing to pay, so I betcha his people are being overly greedy with their demands.

This says a lot more than any of the babble that comes out of Jerry and Stephen. They aren't confident in what they have in Prescott.

I think you're right. What they're probably not confident about is paying him elite money when he's not elite. I know if it were me I would have to seriously consider other options if I was faced with a situation like that. If I'm not getting an elite QB for that money, why pay it? It opens up the option to try another QB without that huge contract for 4 years. What's the worst that can happen, 8-8?

Brees in 2012. He was in the same situation as Dak. He was tagged and didnt sign it and missesd OTAs and minicamps. Technically its not a hold out if they dont sign their tag, but thats splitting hairs and I still call it a "holdout",

Are you sure about this??????? Read the articles below and tell me what you think? It appears the value of an insurance policy is part of $50M. In fact, one article puts his total endorsements at min $2.5M.

You don't know any more than I do if Dak would have signed a Wentz, Goff or Wilson deal, whether Jerry offered it a year ago or yesterday. Dak obviously has a very high opinion of himself and his value relative to other NFL QB's, and it seems he's not settling for anything less than every single dime he thinks he can get. I never said Jerry & Co. were blameless in this mess, but the idea that Dak is a good guy who just wants what he deserves is naive at the very least. It takes two to tango and it wouldn't shock me at all to learn that Dak never had any intention to accept anything less than his reported $40m-per asking price and wanted the whole time for things to be exactly where they are right now. Some people seem to think that Jerry is a tightwad lowballing Dak, but more money for Dak does not mean more money out of Jerry's pocket. The salary cap means Jerry is going to pay the same amount in player salaries regardless of how much he pay's Dak. When Dak takes more money for himself Dak is taking money from his teammates, not Jerry. And when Jerry tries to minimize the money he's going to put into the QB position he's trying to maximize the talent around his QB and the winning potential of his team. I would think that after securing a contract that pays him more than any QB not named Russell Wilson that Dak's goal would be similar to the team's, but nothing he's said or done so far tells me that he wants to win more than he wants a couple more million bucks.

It’s not to his advantage to report to camp on a tag. It’s common for them to wait.

That probably wouldn’t get it done either. Cindy appears to be all in on Burrow

Anyway, a team can’t trade a player without a contract so it’s a moot point.
