The bad thing is the timing by jerry.
He waited too long to dump JG and hire a real HC, and now he gets MM and whole new staff, but he doesnt have
the starting qb signed yet.
Dak just played 4 years as a starter won 2 div championships, beat the main rival phil quite a bit, and all for only
3 mil total.
The way I see it cowboys owe dak a good deal, and Dak supposedly wants a short contract, which considering daks
inconsistent play, is what the cowboys should want.
So they should sign him, give him the deal he wants, short term, or let him walk and draft a top prospect.
I would not tag Dak.

I think the Cowboys are being quite reasonable. Dak’s agent is being ridiculous and unfortunately is inflating Daks head in the process.

why would he possibly be anywhere near the highest paid QB ever?

Id like to think it’s not Dak, but I’m not entirely sure. How can he be about winning when the contract he wants will prevent building a winning team.

I feel I was so wrong about Daks character. It’s just sad.

no we need a new QB

Daks agent is doing his job . Its not his fault Jerrys ego and loyalty to Garrett wasted Dak rookie contract . His agent is trying to get the most for Dak thats what he is supposed to do . Sign him to the Non Exclusive if he wont take a reasonable offer .

If somebody wants to pay him 40 mil and give us 2 1st rounders even we couldnt screw that up and not improve the team . Who needs a QB that bad . BigBen and Rivers a nearing 40. Colts??? Skins?? Who is that bad off at QB to sacrifice 2 first round picks ???

Good post. The problem is that unless we sign a quality FA QB, we have no leverage........... unless Jerry is willing to tank the season. Dak's agent knows this and just saw how the Zeke hold out worked out in favor of the player.

Brady took less, but his wife was making a ton of money at the time. Not as if Dak has a money pot wife ATM.

D-

His wife and endorsements. .......but he gets the endorsements b/c he's a winner. A big part of him winning is sacrificing salary so his team can surround him with enough talent to win.

Dak's contract in the 35-40 million range will be a poison pill that will hamstring this franchise and our new coach.

Nobody owes Dak anything. He got paid in accordance with where he was drafted. That's the way it works. Same as you. You agree to a salary before you take the job. Whether you do a good job or not, you still get paid that amount.

Why wouldn’t a player want the most they can get? Fans need to realize it’s a business with a very short shelf life, you need to earn what you can when you can.

Sounds like his agent is doing exactly what he should be doing.
How much is enough for A GAME???

Im thinking we would have our first round pick and 2 more first rounders somehow we should be able to draft a quality QB with all that draft equity and start over with a rookie contract and a new coach that should be able to make better use of it along with improving the team with the other picks .

Just my thoughts I mean how could we fail with a total of 3 1st round draft picks to acquire a franchise QB at a good price . Garretts gone we couldnt screw this up could we ?? Of course Dak could hold out but I dont think that would really be good for him as we could use our 1st round pick on a QB with a rookie contract and improve the team with FAs bought with the 40 mil we didnt use on Dak

And he was also offered a big pay upgrade before last season and turned it down.

First rule of analysis- don't make excuses.
We all watched the games. We saw the offense stagnate under Dak.
This is fact.
Whether or not you like it is irrelevant.

Get a clue first rule is its a team game and dosent depend on only one guy

Everybody has to do their job at a high level and it was not happening at many different positions

Dak didnt even throw an INT in the last 4 games down the stretch

but no TD's vs the eagles in Philly which means no new deal

Your employer will be thrilled when it comes time to give out increases to know that they can count on you to give them a home town discount and take less so Joe in shipping and Norma is purchasing can get a little more.

I agree.

I have been suggesting Dak is not exactly everything he pretends he is for some weeks.

Been getting a lot of grief over it.

As time goes on, more and more apparent facts appear.

This is going to open all our eyes about what Dak is about.

That’s some top shelf NFL insight. Excellent fact based reporting.

Every player should get absolutely the most they can, but every player has to also realize the other side is going to offer as little as possible to sign them and it ultimately comes down to what the team thinks the player is worth and whether or not the team is willing to pay it and at this point it doesn't seem the team is willing to pay Dak what he and his team think he is worth
I've felt that way for some time now. I suspect his agent is telling him all the good things he wants to hear and he's eating it up. Stephen has his hands full trying to convince him to be reasonable, so it appears. Here's hoping they'll manage to get together on a reasonable deal that both sides can live with and leave something for the rest of the team to get theirs as well.

these little playlets we create in our minds (and on this board) to amuse ourselves are funny to me.

None of us are NFL executives or agents. The idea that these people go about their business the way we talk about here is just silly.

well, if we were to trade Dak, we would instantly be that bad off

we would instantly go to the bottom of the NFL when it comes to QB

If two firsts is the price for Dak, how are we supposed to turn those two firsts into something better? If it could’ve done, wouldn’t those teams with two firsts to trade be talking to someone else before us anyway?

Yeah, if we're going to trade off Dak, might as well MIA it, because we'll suck for a while.
