This is why you can't count MVP super bowl awards as a judgment tool for QB's. Maholmes was OK in this super bowl, not great.

MVP was clearly Chris Jones.

For some very odd reason, they give the award to QB's way too often.

Said pre-games it was Mahomes trophy to lose and it would haven taken an exceptional performance by someone else to win it from him. Mahomes wasn’t great, wasn’t MVP.

Really wasnt a clear cut winner. You arent winning it as a defender without a game breaking play. Hill, Watkins or Williams could have won it. I dont hate giving it to Mahomes. His stats werent impressive, but he came up big when he had to

Mahomes won it in the 4th quarter bringing them back. He was the difference. . But, yeah, a few other guys have a case.

Mahomes was great in the 4th quarter, where the Chiefs went 21-0.

Unless a RB goes nuts or someone gets several picks, Super Bowl MVP almost always goes to the QB regardless of how well they played.

See Eli in 2007. The defense completely carried that team that day, holding the historical Pats offense to only 14 points. But its hard to pick one defensive player, so the default was Eli.

Mahomes did lead them to huge 4th qtr comeback win. So there was that

It is quite rare, but Cowboys defensive players have won Super Bowl MVP twice. Harvey Martin and Randy White shared MVP in Super Bowl XII vs Denver.
Chuck Howley won it in a losing effort to Baltimore in Super Bowl V. Can you imagine a defensive player from the losing team winning Super Bowl MVP nowadays?

Chris Jones was the reason KC made 2 D stops to give Maholmes that shot in the first place. He was the bigger difference.

Chris Jones had several game breaking plays.

In the end I'm happy that Garappolo didn't march them down the field to get a TD to win the game when the Chiefs had a 4 point lead.

The cowboys loss to the Niners in " The Catch" game was in my head, and I'm sure would have been the lead story to the effect of

" Niners repeat clutch last minute performance this time in a hard fought Super Bowl Win...."

I know. Out of all the games I've watched, that annoying "Catch" game was the most heartbreaking, especially since the refs hozed us. Danny White's "fumble" at the end was really an incomplete forward pass. They were 10 yards from field goal range with the best kicker in the league. They also missed a PI on Doug Cosbie in the endzone that would have given us a fresh set of downs instead of setting for a field goal. The stupid catch luck-out would not have been enough for the Commie Niners to win. I was in high school at the time, and there was his obnoxious goon 49er fan who gloated. I'm still in therapy trying to get over this crap.
