So there's some threads and posts floating around that are flat out ludacris. A guy just posted that Jaylon is an embarrassment to the organization so I feel compelled to offer you this:

Player A: 144 tackles (81 solo), 0 sacks. 2 ints

Player B: 142 tackles (83 solo), 2.5 sacks, 1 ints

Player A is Luke Kuechly
Player B is Jaylon Smith

Jaylon had the 6th most tackles in the entire NFL (3 solo tackles behind league leader Bobby Wagner; largely regarded as the best LB in the NFL). Jaylon also had .5 less sacks and the same number of INTs as Wagner.

To say Jaylon is an embarrassment to this organization is an embarrassing thing to say - the guy isn't even in his prime yet and had to deal with idiots like Robert Quinn not being able to stop the run or screens to save his damn life (the guy had 26 solo tackles in 2019). Quinn was sack hunting the whole season so he could get a big contract & it compromised this whole defense (especially the LBs - in my opinion). I get some of you are in love with Quinn because sacks (the most overrated thing in all of football) make people fall in love with players. If I'm the Cowboys I couldn't get rid of Quinn fast enough & this Jaylon Smith slander needs to stop - it's ridiculous.

You forgot the most important stat, interceptions.

Luke Kuechly: 18 interception
Jaylon Smith: 1 interception

This is TACKLE football, not flag football big guy. If you think tackling is a worse stat - you're out of your damn mind.
Smith played better than some give him credit for but he missed way too many tackles
Quinn really has nothing to do with it and if sacks was such a useless stat then why does every team constantly hunt a guy to get sacks
All stars tell a story, non tell the complete story

Jaylon’s stats are garbage time stats, much like everyone else’s on this team. He picked up all his tackles in the 3rd and 4th Q’s where the opposing offense gave up. They’re basically just letting Jaylon and Co tackle them. The points they stop and the points our offense racks up while down 20+ points is worthless.

Our entire team’s stats this year are practically garbage time points. I think it’s best we throw away the 2019 season completely.

its true and fans here who held him under a microscope to point out a handful of bad lays or over zealous celebrations have more to do with his new deal and his personality,,go check my posts ive tried to defend him but fans have turned on him.. they overblown about every aspect of Tank, Smith and zeke because of their deal and not using logic and stats that show otherwise..

it was adown TEAM year and it made things worse..Imagine next season Dak, JOnes, and Amari if they get new deals and are here ..OMG:omg::rolleyes:o_O

emotions take over and sometimes they cant see through the hate,,:)

we all know the truth is somewhere in between mosts who are divided..2020 we get to reset...breathe, relax... its ok lol
Breathing, gasping, turning blue and calling 911.

I have been trying to understand why fans have decided after a sensational 2018 season followed by a Pro Bowl invite in 2019..

fans are dissing Jaylon for doing celebrations after plays?

And becuz he was not able to improve over 2018 despite having lost Wolf Hunter in 2019?

That injury affected Jaylon almost as much as it affected Vander Esch. Jaylon began getting isolated on plays and Wolf Hunter was not there to team with Jaylon. Things changed.

And for that, Jaylon is a problem?

And becuz he got his pay raise that was long overdue as he worked thru his rehab?

I mean as an injured 2nd rd draft pick, he was probably not receiving what he would have been paid if healthy.

Increasing his pay and then he dipped his performance is reason to diss him?

Seems hard to understand.

He was equally bad when LVE was on the field. Whiffs, overruns, blocked by one hand, fullbacks launching him into the owner's box etc etc.

Player A is Luke Kuechly
Player B is Jaylon Smith
QB rating when thrown on
Player A 75.3
Player B 102.1

Guess who is who.

Also, you can get a lot of tackles if teams target you as a relative weak spot.

Did you know that Covington was our leading tackler on the dline through maybe 6 games or so?

Gregory had *6* solo tackles in the season finale of 2016 in his 2nd game coming back from suspension. The Eagles kept running at him because they figured he wasn't game ready.

Smith needs to stop avoiding hitting folks when he has the opportunity. I don't remember him doing it 2018 but he definitely started developing that bad habit toward the end of the 2019 season.

Ok maybe I should’ve said Dat Nguyen or someone. My point was if you make the Pro Bowl chances are you are a good player in this league. They don’t just put anyone in there.

Those are the odds on a Pro Bowl player. But we have more to go on than the Pro Bowl nod. We've watched the games. Jaylon had issues.

Roy Williams made the Pro Bowl at S when Cowboy fans knew he was a massive liability. Being on the Cowboys helps. Getting the camera on you helps. Swooooop!

He wasn't. Covington had 8 tackles in the first 6 games and finished 13th in tackles for the year. Quinn had 9 in 6 games even though he missed two of them. DLaw was coming off an injury.

And Covington only got those tackles because Antwuan Woods missed 4 of the first 6 games.

If you watch closely as Jaylon gets stonewalled by a heavy bag at the Pro Bowl, his avoidance of engagement with blockers will make plenty of sense to you.

Bennet wasn't there getting tackles through the first 6 games.

Yeah, Covington was only on the field because Woods wasn't. That reinforces my point. You can get a lot of tackles, and not be that good.

8 tackles in 6 games now counts as "a lot"? In the same six games where Jaylon Smith had 49 tackles?

Covington isn't good, its a starter and didn't have a lot of tackles.

The pro bowl is a farce and I care nothing about it. Don't give credence to anything that happens there as real football.
