Only in Dallas do you see this type of arrogance from players that haven't accomplished doo doo.

Rich Gannon said on the radio a few weeks ago that Dak "will have to live at the facility" this off-season to get this offense down bc of it's complexity. If he decides to stay away from Dallas bc of this contract situation then there are going to be growing pains next season with this offense. Imagine what it's going to be like around here if Dak is struggling with the new offense immediately following signing a new big deal.

Why should Dak acquiesce, to the demands of the front office? Dak did not put the organization in this predicament; nor should he sacrifice his contract to do so.

The salary amount is up to the FO, Prescott and his agent. Not fans who think they're entitled to dictate that beyond opinion.
Tagging him is stupid. Not having him under contract is a waste. He's proven he can be a franchise QB for 4 years making BS money. He deserves a long term contract. Waiting another year further raises the market. Should have signed him last year. If I'm Prescott, I'm looking out for my future.

Every time this happens the player ends up getting his money anyway.

I'm glad they are holding a certain line with Dak, and if Im the FO, Im definitely seeing what I may be able to get in return for Prescott in a trade.

Let me be clear I'm indifferent on Prescott and I certainly root for him....BUT....

...its at least worth thinking about getting a first rounder and a nice defensive player for him...at least.

Then sign Bridgewater, and you could make the argument we are a better team.

Then again, why wouldnt the team trading for Prescott do the same thing?

It's a bit of a double edged sword in the sense that its not impossible to get yourself a QB this offseason to replace Prescott, but that same situation lowers his trade value.

Let's put it this way.....no team is going to trade two firsts for him...and if someone is willing to, Dallas needs to face some hard facts and move him.

The alternative is worse and I think they know it....that being....paying the guy as if he is elite when he isnt. He needs a support cast big time.

I love Dak and want him resigned ASAP.

But it makes me shudder, to know he will likely be the highest paid QB.
Tony Romo was the highest paid QB in the NFL. More recently, so was Garrapolo when he was signed to highest NFL deal after only 5 starts. It means nothing except that you are the most recent starter to sign. Then it’s the next guy and the guy after that. It’s all about structure, guaranteed money, and if the team, like SF, wants to make sure they have a way out halfway through the contract.

I think Dak lays back and waits for mahomes to get paid. Would be funny if mahomes takes a team friendly deal for about 30 a year. He won’t but would be funny.

It's a negotiation man. If they cant settle on a number then you tag him so he doesn't become a FA and continue to work on a deal. In no way is Dak being screwed in that situation. He should continue to go to work everyday under those circumstances. If he decides to check out then that shows all that "leadership" stuff was overhyped.

Maybe a year if he gets more than Russell Wilson. Once Dak signs Mahomes and Watson will make more
Correct and Lamar Jackson will mostly likely get more also. Mahomes and Watson and Jackson will probably all approach or exceed the $40 million a year mark.

Guess my question is to all, Is if Tennessee coughs up $30+ million for Tannehill what is Dak worth. Dallas is going to pay market price and Wilson set that mark so I suspect Dak will get to that mark at least and maybe he becomes the highest paid QB for about a minute because Watson and Mahomes will most likely out distance his contract by some 20 percent more per year.

And he will have earned every bit of the venom.

Just pretend Dak is Wentz. That will solve on how much he should get paid for some of you. :lmao:

Great point, didn't even think about Jackson. You also have guys like Winston, Brady, Rivers, Tannehill, Bridgwater and some other young guys that are coming up on contracts. If Dak gets 35 million a year right now, I'm willing to bet he isn't top 5 by the end of the season and free agency next year.

Sorry but Dak is following the path of players like D-Law, Jaylen, and Zeke where they get new contracts after feeling entitled and then sucking the next year.

I say apply the non-exclusive franchise tag to Dak and allow him to negotiate with other teams. That way Dallas isn't setting the market and if another team signs him to a stupid contract then Dallas receives (2) 1st round draft picks (can you say Miami or Oakland perhaps).

I personally would love Dallas to draft Utah State QB Jordan Love. He is 6' 4" 225 pounds with a very strong arm.

Jaylon is making 7mil in 2020 and 9mil in 2021. Elliot 10 and 13 in 2020/2021. You people have no idea how good of deals the Cowboys signed these guys too. The only contract i think is a little bit much is Lawrence.

It's not so much as living up to the numbers as it is being a starting NFL QB getting a 2nd contract. Just wait until your Mayfield, Jackson, Watson and a few others are up over the next 2-3 years.
lol I've been trying to say this same thing dating back to last offseason.

Everyone gets their panties in a bunch over sticker price right now. Dak at $35m will be like the 6th or 7th-highest contract come 2022, and the cap will have gone up a ton, especially with the next CBA and TV deal. All of a sudden, it's a fine contract.

Someone may have already said this in this thread but I think the Cowboys hired Mike McCarthy as a “win now” choice. If the FO decides to either tag Dak or let him go, I don’t think the MM hire makes much sense. He’s not a great “rebuild” coach which is what this team becomes without Dak. I don’t like what the franchise tag does to a team’s overall psyche regarding your starting QB. If this team wants Dak moving forward, sign him. Don’t tag him.

IMO, too many fans on this forum believe you can just easily go pick the QB tree and find someone better than Dak Prescott. He may not be Patrick Mahomes, but Dak is good enough to win with. And without him, this team instantly becomes a rebuild project.

Of course, it is all on him. Thanks for your contribution.
