Question: What does Steve McNair, Don Meredith and Ken Stabler have in common with practically every quarterback's name being suggested this entire offseason?

Answer: Their odds of Jerry Jones acquiring them is just as good as the rest.

Bring in Phillip Rivers as a back up if at all possible .

Or if its too expensive, then Tannenhill

The Cowboys should get Case Keenum and give him a four year deal.
He would be an upgrade immediately, and at worst would solidify the Cowboys at quarterback if they do eventually sign Dak.
Phillip Rivers is also available, and is an upgrade.
Ryan Tannehill is available.
The Cowboys don't have to be in this soap opera with a guy who went 8-8 but wants to be paid like he is a proven winner.
Signing a veteran like Keenum- who has been a winner- would likely change Dak's attitude towards a new contract.
But I believe that the Cowboys would make it to the NFC Championship game next year with a guy like Keenum under center.

OP should be required to have all of his future posts approved by a moderator for 4 years.

On what planet does your fantasy version of Case Keenum exist, because it certainly isn't this one?

You've already said this. Why are you making repeat threads?

Keenum could be had very cheap. Foles could be traded for, Winston could be had
There are options if we don't want to pay 35 million plus. If our coaching staff and FO are game let's move on.
Do we believe in the rest of the infrastructure of the team? Dak is slightly below Cousins in terms of talent. Cousins is a more accurate short and long passer. I dont think he is worth 28 mllion a year. I think Goff is severely overpaid.
Wentz cant stay on the field. Has not won a playoff game.
If you tell me the Cowboys go cheap at QB, and sign Chris Jones, Amari Cooper, Shaq Barrett I am good with it. Build up the rest of the team and give me an average QB. Dak is just above average. He is no Wilson, Rodgers. He is not a game changer.
Winston blows. Badly. Foles can't stay healthy and he blows. Badly.

If Dak truly insists that he wants 40 mil/season, then I'm OK w/ franchising him for one year and signing a Case Keenum type. Don't get me wrong, the people who think Dak sucks would soon realize Keenum is much worse!!!

Transition tag him and allow someone else to overpay. I cant pay a guy 40 million if he is not elite. That is my personal line in the sand.
I can only pay Wilson, Mahomes, Watson, Rodgers type that money. Overpaying the right guy is still ok and he can cover your team warts.
Paying Goff will lead you to mediocrity very quickly.

You know Keenum did take Minnesota to a championship game... Just saying
You mean w/ his 2 TD's and 3 INT's and 73 QBR? Yeah, sure, he "took" them to that game. I'm afraid your definition of "took" and mine are very very different!!!!

True, but should they do that?
Well no, I wouldn't want to go to $40.

But the point is just that this team has so much cap space right now, his contract isn't prohibitive of anything this offseason.

And I agree, though I will say I think you have too many in that list. Rodgers is no longer worth that, Watson is too inconsistent to be worth that, and SEA hasn't sniffed a championship game since Wilson got paid. However, that is a different conversation. Paying a QB that much of you salary cap will almost assuredly lead to a lesser team. I don't blame the player so much, but that's the reality of the situation.

Just when you think this idiot can’t make a thread even worse than his previous ones... Keenum ffs :lmao2:
Yeah, it's bad enough when someone wants to trade for Mahomes or some such crapp. At least Mahomes is better than Dak. Keenum is a backup.

I mean I hear what you are saying. But in my opinion there are tiers of QB's. When I think of elite guys or guys who will be elite, Dak does not make that list.
Winning multiple SB's is not easy unless you are the Patriots. Rodgers has one, Brees has one, Manning really had one until he won with the Broncos with his noodle arm. He was horrific that year. But all three of those guys were elite and no team would have any problem paying them a second contract. I would have no hesitate to pay Watson, Wilson, Mahomes, and even Rodgers when he got his extension.

Watson is on the same tier as Dak. You're overrating him at present. He's just not consistent enough at present.

Wilson got paid and can't win. Not sure he's on that level either, though he is very very good.
