You would need more FA with only wood and maybe Crawford at tackle
But I like the plan
I have to ask
Where does Crawford fit in this defense. If the idea is to get bigger in the middle that not Crawford. Nolan idea DE is in the 250 -265 range that not Crawford
I think there are better DT in this draft in 3 & 4 rd then what we have on this roster. maybe they have to double dip and save money at the same time. JMO

I’m all for adding a mid rnd guy but Crawford is a solid player who gives you some pass rush inside
He get 4 or so sacks and 10-12 QB hits when healthy
You need numbers on the Dline and keeping Crawford doesn’t keep you from signing a FA and drafting one or two but it may keep you from reaching
We don’t have much in numbers at DT so we need guys and you could do worse than Crawford
And I think some dislike him for his contract, which would have to be fixed, more than his actual play

I believe Crawford/Covington have the ability to play 3-4 DE if needed. Now if Nolan wants to truly run a hybrid scheme with multiple fronts, these are the types of players he needs for the transition.

So, we can't do whatever we want in free agency now that we are flush with cap space? I am confused.

I know we have to pay Dak probably around 35 mil to 40 mil a season they could backload some of it or just tag him which im thinking the QB Tag is 34 mil but he'll cost more the following year but lets say Dak takes a cap hit of 34 mil, Cooper 16 mil this is around 50 mil between them. Our draft picks less than 5 mil total hit. I believe we have 78 mil of space so now you have 23 mil left and Byron Jones at 14 mil and others to resign like slot receiver, Quinn on and on. I honestly think Byron Jones I let walk. If you let Crawford walk you save 5 mil. Now you have 28 mil to spend. Lets say you restructure two contracts you probably can get to 35 mil to spend. I spend 10.mil on two DT's in free agency one of those is a free agent from the NE Patriots hes cheap and did a nice job. You have to make a decision on your slot receiver Cobb hes 5 mil or go to the draft it would get much cheaper your call. You would have to make a 10 mil decision on Quinn at DE. The draft i work my butt off to retool the Secondary. One Safety and two CB's.

I feel even if resigning Quinn at 10 mil and a few others they could still spend 15 mil on two or three free agents based on not spending it on Byron Jones.

I love the draft but its not going to happen. Kinlaw, with all the Sr. Bowl hype is not going to be there at 17. I would love to get that guy on this team.

I also don't see the Cowboys re-signing Dak, Cooper, Byron Jones and Quinn. I just don't see how they get that done. I think Collins gets a decent offer in free agency, but not a blockbuster offer. His age may qualify him for a few extra bucks, but his performance does not. Would I be surprised if he got a huge deal? No. Nothing surprises me in free agency. The guy who will get a ridiculous deal is Byron Jones. This is why the Cowboys are not going to be able to keep him. They know it too which is why McClay has been talking about him being good but not great. That's intended for teams who have an eye on Byron. Still, I think Jones is going to be the highest paid CB in the league in 2020. Not that I think he deserves it, but there is always one team that is willing to be completely stupid about free agent contracts.

Why are people so high on Robert Quinn - is it my imagination or did this guy completely suck against the run and screens. I get that he can get to the QB every once in a while, but he's a massive liability in my opinion.

Gladney is a ball hawk but I doubt he's there at 51. He's going to rise up draft boards. Don't hate the Burgess pick but I'd rather take Winfield Jr. at that spot if he's still there.

Yeah he's already at 40 on the board I'm looking at. Kinlaw at 14. So we'd be lucky to pick either of them up. I see Winfield Jr. at 77 and Burgess isn't even on the day 2 boards.

Just by gut feeling I think Chaisson will be off the board, Kinlaw off the board and we will be looking at Delpit or McKinney. In around
about way though banking on Byron Jones leaving in Free Agency even if we draft Delpit or McKinney its all a wash unless they are
active in free agency. I'm really hoping we can add HaHa Clinton Dix. It would be a real help !!!

Well not sure about Cobb or Amari now ..if we Tag Dak. cant tag Amari ...so a WR like Juedy( prob gone) or Ruggs might be important....plus do u really want Philly getting a WR like Ruggs lol

He's a pure pass rusher. If we had more competent coaches you can cover for those guys. I have always been a fan of Quinn's going back to his time as a collegiate in Chapel Hill. He's very good at getting after the qb. We have two young linebackers with similar skillsets that is the bigger issue. We don't have competent DT play.

I have no issue bringing back Quinn and actually getting better DTs and bringing in a linebacker good at reading screens.
