First, I'm one of Coop strongest supporter but this is an interesting option if we can't get him signed and need the tag for Dak. He would certainly be cheaper.........

SAMMY WATKINSWR, KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Sammy Watkins committed to playing football in 2020 but admitted mentally, physically, soulfully, spiritually, I need some downtime."
"I don’t control the contract, a trade or if they’re going to give me a bigger contract," Watkins said. "That’s not my worry. I’m not really focused on the money aspect of it

Yeah if you can’t go off with Mahomes as your QB and when Tyreek misses a bunch of games you are nowhere to be seen... I would pass.
Cooper is a guy you have to keep.

I had Watkins on my fantasy team so I watched him a lot. I'd rather have Gallup as our #1. Hill missed several games and Watkins was outproduced by Robinson and Hardman. He'd still probably carry a big price tag for talent that just isn't there.

Watkins is nowhere near as good as Cooper. No thank you.

Of Watkins stats - 200 yards came in one game.

312 yards and 16 receptions in 2 games - he was non-existent for the majority of the year when he was at best the defenses 4th priority on the team!

I guess my question is would you rather have Coop at $18M or Watkins at $10-12M? Here's his current contract. So I'm guessing his value in the $10-12M range.

Contract Terms
3/13/2018: Signed a three-year, $48 million contract. The deal includes $30 million guaranteed

I think the signing of Dak much more critical than Cooper.I hope they sign him but I think we saw a little bit last year of what Oakland saw. When Amari is on his game there are few better the problem is that should never be a question. Id like to keep Amari because he is one of the best route runners in the game but if we lose him Id rather get a burner in the draft.

Im not a huge Byron fan Id rather keep Cooper but If I knew for a fact he was going to stay in the division and go to the eagles perhaps we should keep him. as i feel replacing Cooper may be an easier thing to do. Maybe Nolan can help Byron with takeaways which is my beef with him. Id have to look it up but i thought I heard on the fan yesterday that opponents have over a 50% completion rate when they target Byron(not sure if that's true) they just don't much because Awuzi is on the other side.

Sorry but Watkins has already voiced needing time away from the game so his heart isn't in to it and Cooper just isn;t worth committing $15+ Million/year so my feeling is draft a solid DE in the 1st round (AJ Espenosa perhaps) and then move up if need be and grad WR Jalen Reagor in the 2nd round.

have the chiefs said they were going to cut him? he has 1 more year left on his deal if i'm not mistaken.

dallas did want him that offseason but i'd much rather have cooper.

Watkins is not very good. The only thing from stopping him from being a draft bust right now is Mahomes. He's very meh.

Cooper is wayyyyy better then Watkins. Not even close.

Oh I don't question that........but is a much CHEAPER Watkins an option IF we can't get Coop signed? That's my question....

I believe Watkins is wanting more money and is ready to sit for a year if he doesn't get it.

Not is so many words ( in fact they've said they hope to keep him but .....see below)

Regarding football, the 26-year-old at least knows his status in Kansas City is in doubt with a cap number of a whopping $21 million in the in the final year of his deal.
