Oh I don't question that........but is a much CHEAPER Watkins an option IF we can't get Coop signed? That's my question....

I'm of the belief that if you want Dak Prescott you have to sign Cooper.

Cooper elevates Dak and Cooper is still very young for as much experience as he has.

Amari has 5 good years in him at least.

Star......this is nice and I agree with it, but what are your thoughts about Watkins? LOL
my thoughts are that Id rather draft a burner instead of going to Watkins who I think is a serviceable guy if were losing Cooper. I think having Hill,Kelsey and Williams and Mahomes is what makes him. Not sure hed be a very good addition here and if we keep Cobb its not necessary. My bad sometimes i go off on a tangent and lose track of topic

Why would anyone consider Watkins at this point. He’s strongly mentioned that he’s struggling with his passion for the game and is non-committal after 2020.

Watkins was good with the Rams.

The WR class is really incredible this year.. You most likely can get a better WR in the draft.

Watkins has a questionable attitude and hands. Even without Cooper, he's no better than a #3 WR here. We also have a couple other guys on the roster that might be better than him.

I would like a cheaper option than Cooper, but Watkins ain't it.

I guess my question is would you rather have Coop at $18M or Watkins at $10-12M? Here's his current contract. So I'm guessing his value in the $10-12M range.

Contract Terms
3/13/2018: Signed a three-year, $48 million contract. The deal includes $30 million guaranteed
Draft is deep at WR too

Not is so many words ( in fact they've said they hope to keep him but .....see below)

Regarding football, the 26-year-old at least knows his status in Kansas City is in doubt with a cap number of a whopping $21 million in the in the final year of his deal.

thanks! that makes more sense now. i'd still rather have cooper.

We had our chance at Watkins and he chose KC. Stephen even said the contract was within a few dollars of what they offered.

We dodged a bullet!

I agree 100% but with Gallup raising his game alone with Cobb in a WCO system, do we need another top 5 WR?

I didn't see enough from Gallup last year to give assurance that he can be a No.1 lead WR.
Though I thought his game stalled last year, he still looks like a heathy, promising No.2 guy.

Cobb at this stage of his career, seems more suited to the slot role than a No.2. He factors more inside than out on an island vs press coverage.

and yes, we still need a top 5 overall type lead WR. .. this is for Dak's sake. He would be far better served with an elite No.1 featured WR, than having two No.2 types
(which is what i'm fearing with Coop) A legit featured WR takes over games even against the better, elite competition across from him.
and whether road or home, he simply brings it week by week.

Actually it sounds to me like an admission on some sort of mental illness he's been dealing with. Nothing major but minor.....I applaud him for his honesty.

I can't hitch my wagon to a 26 year old chirping about needing some down time after winning the SB.
so you hitch it to Amari who is either hurt or jogs when hes not the primary? takes plays off or misses games? you want that for 19mil?

its apparent that this is his personality, he gets unmotivated(bored) and checks out sometimes and thats why the raiders traded him..this is a red flags, AC is good but could be elite but hes not motivated to be the best , its very apparent he and dak when their inconsistency's meet in the same games we LOSE..those want to brag about his production but he should have had 1400-1500 yards and as Dak did put up most of his numbers against the weakest opponents but when needed most , disappeared..

I couldn't tell whos fault those last 6 games were but there up and down play throughout those games it was bit of both.. we Dak needs Amari but when AC isnt playing 100% , well Dak has bad games..so maybe I SAY NIETHRER..

roll with Gallup a FA maybe stay with Cobb , develop Smith and a WR in the draft..

at least Watkins stepped up and did his damage in the playoffs and SB...we needed ONE MORE WIN the last 5 of 6 and AC and Dak didnt make the plays..

Cowboys almost signed Watkins. He would be roasted if he had same production.

With it supposedly being a great WR draft class, KC Chiefs can chance getting a capable WR of replacing Watkins and his outrageous cap dollar.
and they have an elite QB that makes players better than what they are. As I think of the case with Sammy in KC.

Although I have a few doubts about Coop at this time, he is a better WR than Watkins, in terms of routes, outing, separation and overall big play performer.
With Watkins's size, 4.42 speed and ability to break out of cuts, being the No.2 guy aside from Tyrek , and of course Mahomes and that offensive Reid system, I would
have thought Sammy would explode out and show up more than he has. I would have thought he'd be what Reggie Wayne is to Marvin Harrison, or Torry Holt to Issac Bruce, etc..
But he just doesn't show lead WR type mentality and make up.

Is Gallup still raising his game? Seems to me he hit a plateau....if not a peak. Maybe new coaching and new philosophy will open it back up.

Money is the secondary question. You have to decide first whether you need Cooper’s 79 receptions, 1100 yards & 8 TDS, or can you make do with 52/700/3 and get the balance elsewhere. If you decide the later, it then becomes whether you can get 52/700/3 from someone other than Sammi at less than 10-12.

I see you beat me to it, quick (in regards to gallup). I posted just a minute ago, and made my way down the list to your reply. "stalled" might be a better description, and as I said, maybe a new leaf will fire him back up again.
