Money is the secondary question. You have to decide first whether you need Cooper’s 79 receptions, 1100 yards & 8 TDS, or can you make do with 52/700/3 and get the balance elsewhere. If you decide the later, it then becomes whether you can get 52/700/3 from someone other than Sammi at less than 10-12.

Good point ......

Cowboys almost signed Watkins. He would be roasted if he had same production.

Oh he would have a bunch on here defending him too lol.

Without Amari I think Dak would be done here. He saved his career.

Actually it sounds to me like an admission on some sort of mental illness he's been dealing with. Nothing major but minor.....I applaud him for his honesty.

I applaud him as well. I'n thinking the cowboys just need to have weed room for guys like him and Gregory. Hell I'm suppose to be at the star later this year I can pop in an evaluate Jerry's weed quality. Sorry if my sense of humor is in poor taste not meaning to belittle mental illness in an fashion. Hell at my age not sure weed should be on my agenda anyhow

There is a reason, Kansas City will move on from his this year. They paid him #1 money and he is a decent #2 now.

No way do you move on from Cooper for Watkins.

At this point, I take Gallup over Watkins

I can't hitch my wagon to a 26 year old chirping about needing some down time after winning the SB.

Lol thats a good point. Its an odd statement from a guy who just reached the summit. Something you expect to hear more from an aging veteran who was just handed the most disappointing loss of his career. Maybe it sounds better with more context.

I think any decision with Amari has to have Dak in mind as well... Don't you?
No I don't. I think its just another opportunity for you to express your disdain for Dak. You've said the same thing over and over in multiple threads. I like Amari and I think yes Dak needs to have a valid #1 receiver as most all QB's can benefit from and need.Whether that has to be Amari is up for debate. Don't take that as me not wanting Amari I do but if negotiations become too difficult with him I can see grabbing one of the Alabama burners early on even though we need defense.

A receiving corps of Cobb and Gallup and Henry Ruggs is not too much of a drop off and its more cap friendly but this thread was about Watkins vs Cooper. Ill take cooper

I think this is just a different brand of athlete nowadays, which isn’t a bad thing. Guys have other interests and aren’t defined by the sport they play.

That said, I’d have no interest in a guy that is openly wavering with his commitment.

Sammy Watkins committed to playing football in 2020 but admitted mentally, physically, soulfully, spiritually, I need some downtime."
Buh, but.... he needs down time. We can't afford that kind of an attitude. Bad enough Zeke is fat & Coop is slow. Certainly can't afford a player whose tired. :lmao:

so you hitch it to Amari who is either hurt or jogs when hes not the primary? takes plays off or misses games? you want that for 19mil?

its apparent that this is his personality, he gets unmotivated(bored) and checks out sometimes and thats why the raiders traded him..this is a red flags, AC is good but could be elite but hes not motivated to be the best , its very apparent he and dak when their inconsistency's meet in the same games we LOSE..those want to brag about his production but he should have had 1400-1500 yards and as Dak did put up most of his numbers against the weakest opponents but when needed most , disappeared..

I couldn't tell whos fault those last 6 games were but there up and down play throughout those games it was bit of both.. we Dak needs Amari but when AC isnt playing 100% , well Dak has bad games..so maybe I SAY NIETHRER..

roll with Gallup a FA maybe stay with Cobb , develop Smith and a WR in the draft..

at least Watkins stepped up and did his damage in the playoffs and SB...we needed ONE MORE WIN the last 5 of 6 and AC and Dak didnt make the plays..
So, can you show me where I even suggested signing Cooper or is it more likely you are just making shtuff up?

Bills and Rams let him walk. Word out of Buffalo was he's a stupid. Can't remember plays. Didn't know where to line up and what to do at times. Doesn't fit in the Jimmy Johnson rule of never drafting a stupid player.

The season Cooper had in 2019 was better than Watkins best season in 2015. Watkins has the best QB the NFL has seen in possibly the last two decades and has only put up 1192 yards and 6 TDs the past two seasons. He’s also missed 20 games with injuries over his career. Granted he had a good Super Bowl but he hasn’t been consistent. The 673 receiving yards Watkins had this past season is the most he’s had in 4 seasons. Amari is a much better receiver than Watkins and it’s not even close.

Randall Cobb had more catches, more yards and the same number of TDs as Sammy Watkins this past season. We had 3 receivers that outproduced Sammy Watkins in 2019.

I would pass on both. Only problem is Jerry has too much draft stock in Cooper to let him go. I suppose if Luca Brasi approached me for a decision on the two I would select Cooper.
