I hope Dak signs with another team

Our fanbase is unhinged with their irrational prejudgment against Dak.

Earlier, someone started conversation about whether we'd have been better off with Dak or Josh Allen, and typical Dak haters of course used it as an excuse to say we wouldn't have been any worse because Allen is no worse. This despite Allen's current established ceiling (2019) still being lower than Dak's current established floor (2017).

And ignores the fact that guys like Josh Allen get drafted 7th overall. Which means the cowboys would need to sink additional picks in to draft one.

Irv you are always one of my fav guys on this board.
But lets talk.
You want to pay 30+ mil to Dak? Or are you just saying if he goes to the right team he could win a ring?

By my count hes middle 10. 10-20th best qb. Not top 10. Not Bottom 10.

You could argue all types of things, but to me he is about 12-15. How much do you pay the middle ranked qbs in the NFL?

Top 10- in no particular order
Brees, Mahomes, Rogers, Brady, Jackson, Wilson, Watson, Ryan, Wentz, Big Ben

Second 10- in no order(FWIW this group is the upside tier, but not the top tier)
Allen, Goff, Cousins, Tannehill, Dak, Mayfield, Stafford, Jones, Murray

Now, I would love to know what MM thinks. And if he believes in Dakota, he might make something of him.
Offense will have easier reads and throws. But I dont think Dak can deliver the goods in a precision timing based offense.
I think Dak is a good guy, leader of men and gives you everything he has every game. But at the end of the day, he can't make all the throws, is too inconsistent, and I think paying him a boat load of money is insane.

This team was loaded. He had great stats, but not many W's. Alot of that was on him.
Thanks. You made some good points but I disagree with some things. Just curious, what throws can't Dak make?

Not only that but Brady isn't a top 10 QB anymore and Rodgers didn't play well at all this season. I think some of those guys are living on reputation. Big Ben? Wentz? Watson?

Jackson had some terrible moments including the playoffs, I'm not sure his style will last.

Dak had almost 5000 yards, threw 30 TDs this season. Sure he needs you be better but let's look arty some things. This team quit on the coach ship you must remember that. Receivers lead the league in drops..... that's catchable passes, had the worst starting field position, defense that didn't get extra possessions or short fields...... believe they had less than 10 possessions start in opponents territory the entire season and on top of that a kicker that couldn't kick.

Yes, Dak would get paid 30-35 million if he were a free agent. He is a top 10 QB and at times plays top 5.

The solution is so obvious, just draft the best QB on the board on 17 and you we'll get a player 10× Dak the instant he shows up at minicamp. I don't know why we can't see how obvious this is? Lol

61 QBs drafted in the first round since 1999 and there were 12 guys you could consider franchise QBs. That's a great 20% hit rate!!! How do a define a franchise QB for this exercise? Would be considered a top 10 QB in the league for some time during their career with multiple pro bowls, and numerous good years starting, ir has shown early potential to become that player. For the record the franchise list includes players like Eli Manning, Donvovan Mcnabb, Matt Ryan, Matt Stafford, etc. Probably all guys you would be in the 2nd tier of top NFL QBs for most of their career.

Dak consistently throws behind WR's. And when he doesnt set his feet, because of poor footwork, he is often high.
High and behind throws are not good qb traits.

There's another reason he should go.
Dak was supposed to be the leader, but he quit on the team, too.
Why would the Cowboys want to pay millions of dollars to a guy who quit?

Dak is not an elite QB I agree. But he never quit on this team. He repeatedly carried defenders past first down markets while the team watched. His coaches quit on him but he never returned the favor.

I've tried to keep an objective opinion about this matter, but the more time that passes, the more he says, the more his fans say, and the more I recollect on Dak's play, I have come to the conclusion that he should be somewhere else in 2020.
It all comes down to results, and for Dak to be demanding big money, despite missing the playoffs in 2019 and not producing when the games mattered, it shows a lack of maturity and a mindset that I believe will be detrimental to the team.
Only in Dallas would a quarterback who loses half his games be coddled to the extent that he thinks he should be one of the highest paid players in the NFL.
I hope the Cowboys offer him the non-exclusive tag and another team offers him more, and he gets to see what playing for another team is like.

I think this is the most logical move. The non-exclusive tag guarantees the Cowboys the right to match, and if they don't, they get two first-rounders. At that point, you can bring in a veteran QB (and there are a lot of them out there this year) and use that draft capital to go after another Franchise QB.

What you are missing is that NFL salaries are not at the level you imagine in your head.

Carson Wentz is 32-24, as a starter, and he got a big payday. Dak Prescott is 40-24. Garoppolo got a big payday 3 years ago despite having only started 3 NFL games in his career. This is just a reflection of the market for QBs. It's supply and demand - there is a big demand for quality QB's and a shortage of them to go around. So salaries are inflated. Fans may want to bury their heads in the ground, but teams can't afford to do that.

Its amazing how one sided we as fans view things. Was he selfish and when he won 2 of 3 division titles.. The man clearly outplayed his contract and did not say one word. Hes a top 7 to 10 QB depending on your preference from 7 thru 10..

So you judge Dak based off one single season? Lmao. Good one. Aside from Brady, every single QB has down years. Dak is 16 games over .500 in his career. Wentz is a few games under .500 and has taken only 4 total snaps in the playoffs and got $32mill a year. Dak is better than Wentz and deserves to be paid more.

You do realize QBs who have accomplished less also were "coddled" into big contracts, right? Ever heard of Stafford or Cousins? But continue to think it's only Dallas.

Romo got how many extensions and never accomplished anything more than Dak did. Explain that to me...

Jimmy Garapollo set the market for QB contracts 2 seasons ago.

he is now like 8th in overall QB salary.

if you sign Dak to a high tag now. In 2-3 years his cap hit will be 8-10 overall for QB’s.

that’s how it works.
