The exclusive franchise tag projected out will be $33.4M 2020, $40M 2021, $57.7M 2022.

So do you want to sign for $33M per season with a rising cap and a new collective bargaining agreement on the horizon?

Just like Zeke's agent, who I know and told you he was going to get Zeke's money, Dak's agent is doing a very good job dealing with Jerry Jones who could not build a Super Bowl team with Dak working on a rookie deal for 4 years.

There ain't gonna be no discount for this GM.

It’s hard for me to believe almost 58 million in 2 years. The gambling money must make quite the impact after the CBA. Dak only gets 1 shot at this and was drafted about 2 years to early. Imagine if the tag was 58 million for him this year when some only want to pay him 30 right now. Heads exploding. Lol.

So this was before the season started. How much would he have to make a year to make up for the $33 million he could have already had in his pocket? Does his agent understand math or am I missing something? Had to be something other than the yearly $ amount that killed the deal. Perhaps the guaranteed amount which the article doesn't produce.

True, probably that and length of contract.

Dak wants a short deal to maximize his contract signings. I’m betting they offered him 33 at 7 years. He wants 3-5 so he can cash in a second time....

Exactly.

Was it for 7 years?
Was it for 3 years?
What was the Guarantees?
What was the incentives / milestone bonuses?
What the deal balanced, front loaded, back loaded?
ect...

Too much focus on the Average Pay and not enough on the Details IMO.
exactly, and really all the info should be kept in house, and it was a mistake for nfl to allow players salarys to be public.
They make too much money for it to be public.

Dak turning down 33 mil is hard to believe. I hope that greedy S O B gets franchised for 27 mil.
None of us have any idea what the totality of the deal was and that is kind of important in the NFL.

Geez, you guys see a headline and take it all personal!

What's it going to be then, eh?

That is the whole thing. This is just contract parrying, nothing more.

Don't worry little Dakites. He will be here next year at the very least and probably beyond.

For those that don't want him around, get used to it. I have my own opinion that will play itself out, but I see no reason to scream into a hurricane in the meantime.

Exactly. Its more of how that contract is structured.

The Cowboys and Prescott were close to a deal in September that paid the quarterback approximately $33 million per season, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. Then Prescott asked for more.

“I don’t want to get into the details, but we have offered him significant money,” vice president Stephen Jones said, via the Star-Telegram. “The money we have offered Dak no matter how you look at it would put him as a top five quarterback in the NFL. That is the way we feel about him. He is one of the best.”

"That’s Seattle Seahawks’ Russell Wilson, who makes $35 million a season. Wilson is on a four-year, $140 million deal he signed in April.

"Rounding out the top highest contracts that crack $30 million: Pittsburgh Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger ($34.0M), Green Bay Packers’ Aaron Rodgers ($33.5M), Los Angeles Rams’ Jared Goff ($33.5M), Philadelphia Eagles’ Carson Wentz ($32.0M) and Atlanta Falcons’ Matt Ryan ($30.0M)."

Direct quote from Stephen Jones and the top five listed. Below Jared Goff and above Wentz puts him at #4. And every one listed has a Super Bowl appearance.

In September they were close at 33M then Prescott decided he wanted more?......sounds like a greedy headcase in the making...........it may be time to tag him or find a stop gap free agent and focus on going another route in getting a franchise QB.........him flaking out like this speaks volumes.
You do know that everything in this “article” was just rehashed rumors from months ago, right?

mans I see you also subscribe to the “Go another route to get a franchise QB” school of armchair GMing.

You know, the one where we “trade some stuff for the Bengals #1 overall”. Or “let’s tank the season and try to get Trevor Lawrence”

no thanks. I live in the real world and I’m a. Fan of the reality version of the Dallas Cowboys

and all of that with a side of “I don’t like the way he acts” judgements despite the fact that other than not signing a deal there is *nothing* that Dak has said or done in his entire career that would even come close to making him the “bad guy” you seem to need him to be.

It’s kinda weird dude
