the guitar man sessions in '67 should've brought forth an album.
combined with the non-gospel songs recorded in '66...a 12 track LP easily could've been put together and rivaled anything in the Elvis catalog.

    guitar man
    big boss man
    hi heel sneekers
    you dont know me
    just call me lonesome
    mine
    singing tree
    we call on him
    you'll never walk alone
    tomorrow is a long time
    love letters
    down in the alley
it would've been a welcomed addition to the string of LPs being released during the wilderness period and a rival to anything in the Elvis catalog.

guitar man and big boss man should've been released as a single...like hound dog/dont be cruel and little sister/his latest flame.
    combined...it would've made a dynamite pairing.
apart they are a hint to anyone paying attention.
his musical soul was being fed...and his love of and for music was being re-kindled.

it wasnt just his loyal legion that had grown up with him who came to the concerts.
    they were bringing their kids.
and a younger generation who were curious...who would be won over and become full fledged members of The King's Court.
die hards...newbies...all came together and witnessed a living legend become an immortal icon.

just as the tv appearances in the 50s had done...his relentless concerts from 1970-77 gave him an opportunity to re-introduce himself to the generations.

we would never get closer to the man than thru his gospel recordings and his live performances on stage.
