I know its a little early to look that far ahead but its a somewhat slow saturday night for me and I did this mock a couple days ago. What do you guys think of these picks? I figure we'll be picking somewhere in between 25-32 each round. I know we have a couple extra picks as well but wasnt to sure what round they were and what not.
1st Round: WR Sidney Rice, South Carolina
Cowboys have a good set of Wide Receivers but their top two guys are getting up there in age and could use a playmaker like Rice for the future. If Rice does decide to come out and if he does last 20+ picks till Dallas selects this pick would make alot of sense.
2nd Round: OG Manuel Ramirez, Texas Tech
Ramirez has next level strength and would be able to step in right away and be a dominant force for the run game which the Cowboys are missing right now along that O-line.
3rd Round: CB Jonathon Wade, Tennessee
Not a typical Bill Parcells pick but if Wade could improve his open field tackling and become more physical this pick would make all the sense in the world. Wade has killer speed and great measurables and wouldnt be needed to step in right away and start for the Cowboys.
4th Round: RB Selvin Young, Texas
Selvin is a bit of a sleeper pick here, the guy has all the talent in the world but has been somewhat injury prone. Now in his senior year is finally healthy and looks to have his good speed and great agility back. This pick would make sense because Bill Parcells still doesnt know what he has with a somewhat injury prone Julius Jones and Selvin Young could become a serious superstar in the NFL.
5th Round: QB Jeff Rowe, Nevada
Definately a project player here but the guy has a strong live arm and good mobility. Could be a real good Quarterback 2 or 3 years down the road. With Romo looking good at the number #2 and potentially the future starter this would be a pick for depth at the QB position and in case Romo doesnt pan out.
6th Round: OLB Keyunta Dawson, Texas Tech
Big Strong Linebacker on the strongside that can get to the quarterback on a consistant basis. Dawson would be a great fit for the Dallas 3-4 defense.
7th Round: DT Antonio Johnson, Mississippi State
Typical 3-4 Nose tackle that can fill holes. Lacks quickness therefore a 7th round pick...
