I know its a little early to look that far ahead but its a somewhat slow saturday night for me and I did this mock a couple days ago. What do you guys think of these picks? I figure we'll be picking somewhere in between 25-32 each round. I know we have a couple extra picks as well but wasnt to sure what round they were and what not.

1st Round: WR Sidney Rice, South Carolina

Cowboys have a good set of Wide Receivers but their top two guys are getting up there in age and could use a playmaker like Rice for the future. If Rice does decide to come out and if he does last 20+ picks till Dallas selects this pick would make alot of sense.

2nd Round: OG Manuel Ramirez, Texas Tech

Ramirez has next level strength and would be able to step in right away and be a dominant force for the run game which the Cowboys are missing right now along that O-line.

3rd Round: CB Jonathon Wade, Tennessee

Not a typical Bill Parcells pick but if Wade could improve his open field tackling and become more physical this pick would make all the sense in the world. Wade has killer speed and great measurables and wouldnt be needed to step in right away and start for the Cowboys.

4th Round: RB Selvin Young, Texas

Selvin is a bit of a sleeper pick here, the guy has all the talent in the world but has been somewhat injury prone. Now in his senior year is finally healthy and looks to have his good speed and great agility back. This pick would make sense because Bill Parcells still doesnt know what he has with a somewhat injury prone Julius Jones and Selvin Young could become a serious superstar in the NFL.

5th Round: QB Jeff Rowe, Nevada

Definately a project player here but the guy has a strong live arm and good mobility. Could be a real good Quarterback 2 or 3 years down the road. With Romo looking good at the number #2 and potentially the future starter this would be a pick for depth at the QB position and in case Romo doesnt pan out.

6th Round: OLB Keyunta Dawson, Texas Tech

Big Strong Linebacker on the strongside that can get to the quarterback on a consistant basis. Dawson would be a great fit for the Dallas 3-4 defense.

7th Round: DT Antonio Johnson, Mississippi State

Typical 3-4 Nose tackle that can fill holes. Lacks quickness therefore a 7th round pick...

I'd be happy with Ramirez, Rice, and Young. Don't know who the others are.

Hopefully we have an offense oriented draft in 2007.

I believe that we will have an offensive oriented draft simply because the last couple years we have been drafting alot of defense with the higher draft picks and it looks like we have our defense pretty much set.

No, no, no, no, NOOOO...

I'm as big a Horns fan as you'll find, but we fans have hung a nickname on him-- "d*mnit, Selvin"... the guy is a fumble MACHINE...

In the first round, I'd be targeting either OG/OT Justin Blalock of Texas, or C Kyle Young of Fresno State...

Gotta love Johnson from GT, Ginn from OSU, or Rice from SC in the first round to get some youth at our receiver position. Of course trading up for Quinn wouldn't be all that bad either.

I agree that the offense should be addressed, but I think we need to draft a nosetackle. That is really the only position on defense where we need depth.

I see the cowboys drafting OL multiple times on day one next year. Blalock if he last that late in round one because I see him as a guard, thus he may fall a little. In the second or third round I like Aaron Sears from Tennessee.

Good call on Sears... that's one big ol' boy, and as things stand now, you have him going in roughly the rounds he should go...

I'd say Young is 50-50 to be a first day pick.

I'd say 3rd round best case right now.

Hmmm

Glenn
Owens
Crayton
Hurd
Rector

Im not sure we need a 1st round WR.
Or even a day 1 WR right now.
There's no way he'll crack the starting lineup with this group.

Now O-Line is a different story.
Flo isn't gonna be around forever.
We need to go OT and OG 2 out of 3 picks on the first day.

Uh, what have Hurd, Rector and Crayton done in the NFL to convince you that they are #1 material. I'd draft a WR or two and not think twice about it.

Ramirez looks like a Houck type guy at guard.

Not sure Texas is the place to look for draft picks. I think they may have been one of the schools that the FO tagged as "country club" schools. Dallas certainly hasn't dipped into that well lately.

Isn't Sydney Rice a sophomore? Don't think he's eligible.

That would be a horrible idea. The cost is far to high.

From the way Bill P. talks I don't think we would look for a WR in round one unless a top guy dropped.

The trouble is at this point I'm not seeing a lot of guys in round 1 that would help our biggest need at this point- NT depth.

I could see a guard in round 2.

With Glenn signing his extension I don't see a CB in round 3. Maybe another "tweener". Or an additional OL.

I want the WR from Georgia Tech...I'll be surprised if he doesn't come out early.
