Apparently the coaches and scouts didn't agree on Toomer. The scouts liked him but the coaches didn't according to reports. Now it could just be that the Special Teams coach didn't like him.

Toomer failed on a block on the blocked punt play. This caused Heath to have to take the guy that got past Toomer and couldn't get to the free outside rusher.

It's odd for a guy like Edwards to get cut and re-signed the same week.

Dixon is long gone as far as the Cowboys are concerned I think.

Dixon is a key ST player for the Bears now. Even if the Cowboys wanted him back for the subpar play of Spillman, not an option.

The thing is they watched the tape by Tuesday. Why was he cut on Friday? Either one of the other ends tweaked something or it could be that Toomer was late for a meeting or something. Idk...

Yes, Dixon is on the Bears 53 man roster. He was inactive the past 2 games if that makes anybody feel better.

Dixon is a key ST player for the Bears now. Even if the Cowboys wanted him back for the subpar play of Spillman, not an option.

I wonder if Hamilton can do Spillman's role on special teams.

I think they prefer Crawford (Jack) to Edwards and thought he might be ready as the week progressed but when that turned out not to be the case then they went with Toomer.

Yes, there's probably more to the story. It could be that Edwards agent told them another team was going to sign Edwards.

It seems they're going to have to decide soon if they want to keep Edwards or Jack Crawford when D-Law returns.

I am surprised they cut him. Perhaps they cut Edwards first as they knew he would clear waivers even early in the week, whereas Toomer may have a better chance clearing them late in the week and they want to put him on the PS. Still though, he must not be as good as advertised - the special teams angle makes sense.
