defined to the TEEEEEEEEimagine if you had zero instincts other than the instinct to make a business decision on every play. that's Murray. .
Win some you lose some. Pickens more than makes up for both. The only player who was as bad was Elam.
We got hosed on both.
Pickens was my favorite move the second I learned he'd be a Cowboy.Win some you lose some. Pickens more than makes up for both.
Carp was better than this. He was actually decent in coverageBobbie Carpenter 2.0.
at least Jaylon had a physical handicap.Honestly, I see shades of Jaylon Smith out there.
You can "out athlete" other players in college.I’m just curious about how he was ever highly thought of in college. Was he good in college? I remember some on here mentioning him as a good linebacker. Were the scouts fooled? Did anyone watch his tape or just make claims based on his athletic profile, and then others just lazily repeated their claims? Same with Kaiir Elam. I’m just shocked that scouts can be so wrong.
He was a three-year starter for Oklahoma, made first team all-conference, and had some crazy measurables. His instincts were a glaring question mark, but his supporters could point to the buckets of tackles and splash plays that he still made. All in all, he was a pretty strong prospect.I’m just curious about how he was ever highly thought of in college. Was he good in college? I remember some on here mentioning him as a good linebacker. What I don't understand is why NFL teams keeps coming back to "he runs fast and was a first round pick!", even when there's been 6 years, count 'em 6, of Murray starting and playing terribly. At some point, you have to update your eval on a player with new information. It's like Mazi... who cares if you were once a first round pick, if you can't play.Draft Projection
Round 1
NFL Comparison
Kwon Alexander
Overview
Sleek, playmaking linebacker with chiseled frame and long arms. Murray's game is predicated on speed with an ability to fly around from sideline to sideline rolling up tackles. While his twitchy burst allows him to make more plays than the average linebacker, he will overflow to ball-carriers at times. Recognition of play development and ability to take on blocks are both underdeveloped currently, but a move to weak-side linebacker would put him in position to minimize those concerns and maximize his playmaking talent. Murray has hit-or-miss qualities and is more splashy than consistent, but he's immensely talented with the ability to imprint on games on all three downs.
Strengths
Playmaking speed to mark up a stat sheet. Very decisive and willing to take chances. Runs and moves like a safety in space. Fires into gaps and can put offenses behind the chains. Averaged nearly 15 tackles for loss over last two years. Can make all the tackles if kept clean. Weaves and rolls downhill to close the distance on running backs. Ridiculous range from sideline to sideline. Instant burst to the ball from a standstill. Scrape speed to stay square to the line of scrimmage. Can spy, blitz or rush off the edge on passing downs.
Weaknesses
Needs to temper urgency with additional patience. Misdirected out of position multiple times by same play against Kansas State. Instincts and fit recognition are spotty as inside linebacker. Desire to make plays clouds judgment on angles. Must improve strength and hand usage for take-on duties. Can be erased from gaps by a square block. Needs to play with better balance and control as open-field tackler. Hard flows turn to overflows.
Carpenter was much tougher than Murray.Bobbie Carpenter 2.0.
Carpenter >>> murrayBobbie Carpenter 2.0.
He is a "slow processor" as the draft guys like to say.maybe they looked at his ras score???? is his ras score even good?????? sooo confused...
You mean kind of like a mannequin in every sense. He is a "slow processor" as the draft guys like to say.
At least a mannequin would be an obstacle that RBs have to avoid. You mean kind of like a mannequin in every sense.
Murray, Lance, and Mingo pretty much explain it all.The Kenneth Murray trade is the perfect example of why the Cowboys haven't been able to be serious contenders the last few years. If you want to take a buy low approach to a former top pick I'm all for that. Picking up a player like that and penciling him in as a starter right away is a joke.
Looks like Tarzan and plays like Jane.By far the worst player I’ve ever seen. It’s crazy.
Hey that's a Parcell's guy.Bobbie Carpenter 2.0.
I've seen worse but yet hes pretty badBy far the worst player I’ve ever seen. It’s crazy.
The Cowboys' front office saw they were drafted in round 1, and thought they were getting elite players. Nobody in their scouting dept evaluates the on-the-field tape; that's why we draft the players we draft. The only player who was as bad was Elam.
We got hosed on both.
