Video: 105.3 The Fan Four Candidates for the Dallas Cowboys' Next Defensive Coordinator

So........ the 4 he is offering are
Aaron Whitecotton
Clint Hurt
Al Harris
Jim Leonard
Don't know if you'd want to elevate anyone off of this staff I mean you can leave it up to the new DC to keep some of those guys but I'm not a big fan of elevating someone on that side of the ball that was part of the problem even if he wasn't part of the problem you know I mean if you're going to cut out the cancer get all the cancer But again leave the door open let the DC and the HC Keep who they want.....

That would be whitecotton but I don't know if he's a good DC or could be a good DC But the Jets and the Cowboys haven't been a pillar of big time success in quite a while so I don't know I know the defense's were pretty decent over there but those weren't his with the jets...

Jim Leonard sounds like a great hire. Which probably means JJ does the opposite and brings back Dave Campo to fix the secondary and relive the glory days
He is probably getting the Denver job if their DC gets a HC job.

This is a signing that would excite the fan base.

Fresh, younger, successful. Bring some of that Denver toughness and grit here
So no chance it happens lol I agree though. He’d be a good hire

Jim Leonhard sounds interesting

I mentioned Leonhard in another DC post . He’s young an ex player in the NFL at safety and will be a DC somewhere in the league . The Broncos rave about him. The Cowboys are reading my posts I’m glad .

Broadus mentioned Al Harris not popular in the building ( The Star ) some in the organization think Diggs got away with lax habits under Harris .

Whitecotton would be the easy Jerry choice he’s already here . Leonhard would be the thinking out of the box choice the bold move

Leonard would be a good option. I've heard some fans talking about Matt Patricia, but not sure if he's wants to leave Ohio.

We can do better then Patricia or Quinn . It takes beating the bushes interviewing people thinking outside the box .

The next 3 weeks thing is imo why you know he’s coming back…we should go 2-1 at worst. It shouldn’t be based on just that but that is Jerry pretzel logic
Yes, Jerry will say he finished strong when teams are intentionally trying to lose for draft position.

You will get Steve Wilks!

He fits the bill.

- Failed head coach … check
- Fired from most recent team … check
- Fired after one season his last 3 DC jobs? Check
- Will he have any market as a DC outside of Dallas? Nope

I’m willing to bet the farm on this one
Life really sucks huh.

Yes thats Jerry's Algorithm for the past 30+ years!!! you can bet alot more also...

There could be some great options out there if Jerry is willing to pay.

Todd Bowles and Jim Schwartz come to mind.

Sounds like he could be had for a deal.

It's only fair that Eberflus gets another season. He shouldn't be Jerry's most recent scapegoat.

Besides, no defensive coach with a promising career is going to play for Jerry Jones. In the end, they will get fired for decisions that they never got the chance to make.

In a way, you got to feel for Eberflus.

I'll bet that as soon as he got the job, he was imagining what his defense could do with one of the best defensive players in the NFL.

His whole defensive plan or a great deal of it was predicated around Micah's impact. He must have spent hour after hours designing and installing his defensive strategy.

A week before the 1st game of the season against the defending champions, Jerry Jones takes it all and just tosses it in the trash. Parsons is traded.

Eberflus had to design a different strategy for a totally demoralized defense after their leader was taken a week before their 1st game.

Then you have all the drama in the secondary. Almost the entire squad of CBs are unavailable to begin the season and it just gets worse.

Whose decision was it to not play Diggs?

Was it Eberflus and Jerry didn't want to override the decision of his coach? Doubtful.

These are events beyond the control of Eberflus and I just don't think he got a fair opportunity.

Besides, a 4th new DC in four seasons? Perhaps the familiarity and sense of stability will result is some degree of improvement.
