The bottom line is any reasoning the Cowboys front office uses that involves the cap these days is just an excuse.

The salary cap has grown to $300 million and it keeps going up a lot every year so at this point, even if they totally screw up and overpay the wrong players, they can work around it or absorb it either the following season or the season after.

As long as Jerry keeps running it back with the same GM year after year, no one will believe he's desperate enough to win another super bowl.

Well, it’s 30 years too late. If he had shown that urgency decades ago, rather than trying to boost his ego and pretend he was a bona fide football guy, we would be more forgiving.
