How do we always end up playing the Panthers every season? We've played them 7 times during the past 10 regular seasons, and we play them again this season. We also played them during the 1996 and 2003 playoffs. We're 6-1 during the regular season, but 0-2 in the playoffs. So, I'm not complaining because this is a regular season game this year and we seem to dominate them in the regular season, but I'm just confused as to how we seem to always play them, oh and this is the 3rd consecutive season @ Carolina.

Regular Season:
12/08/1997 - vs. Carolina: L 23-13
10/11/1998 - vs. Carolina: W 27-20
10/01/2000 - @ Carolina: W 16-13
10/13/2002 - vs. Carolina: W 14-13
11/23/2003 - vs. Carolina: W 24-20
12/24/2005 - @ Carolina: W 24-20
10/29/2006 - @ Carolina: W 35-14

12/22/2007 - @ Carolina

Playoffs:
01/05/1996 - @ Carolina: L 26-17
01/03/2003 - @ Carolina: L 29-10

We also play Az almost -- I think there is some aspect of the schedule that provides for "rivalry" games -- we have AZ b/c they used to be in the same division and, I believe, Jerry negotiated some of these games that as a condition for supporting re-alignment/expansion -- the idea being that he didn't want to lose games in Az because we are so popular there. I don't know much about the Carolina situation though.

Last year we played their division though - so it is the other 2 years that are the odd ones.

Say, why do we get Detroit every year?

Hopefully it will be THREE WINS in a row as well... I'm tired of it though, they should be visiting Dallas this year, good job Goddell.. (sp?)

I think Ford and Jones have some kind of secret agreement ;)

People, you guys are missing it all. There is no conspiracy about who we play.

You play the team that finished in the same place as you, in the same conference. You also play every team from one division in both confernces.

The reason we play detriot, Carolina, and AZ, almost every year, is because all three of those teams, finish in either second or third, every single year. Just like us.

But seriously -- does anyone have insight into the scheduling?

We get 6 games in the division, 4 against an AFC division, 4 against an NFC division and 2 others.... Those two always seem to be either Carolina, Az, or Detroit

Why does this question keep getting asked? It seems like this is the 4th thread asking this since the season schedule came out.

It's called a rotating schedule folks. Honestly, not hard to figure out why.

Here's a thread where the next 10 years of schedules are calculated based on the current system.

It's easy to figure this stuff out.

Yeah, but why are we always in Carolina. I mean, you think that the law of averages would kick in at some point and we would get them at home.

We got them at home in 2003.

Its not about law of averages. It's just how the scheduling works out. Some teams we play more at home, while others we play more on the road. It's just how it matches up.

It does seem like we play them an abundent amount of times, but it's just how the schedule goes out. Nobody plans it that every year Dallas must play Carolina.

Well, then.

Next time I'll ask about why we can't put a player who gets hurt in TC on the PuP.

:laugh2:

Well, I don't know about this year but in years past, that answer is easy. BP never allowed players to be hurt.

:D

Sorry guys. I wrote that wrong. I get the rotating schedule, I do find it weird that the Cowboys and Panthers play each other all the time though. Like how do they always seem to finish in the same place every year? I guess it just happens. BUT, I should have put this in there, WHY IS THE GAME IN CAROLINA AGAIN THIS YEAR? Three in a row is ridiculous. I know when they did division realignment, they set the rotating schedule to be so each team played each other atleast once home and once away every 7 years. And I get last year was because we played the South, but why did they make this year's game in Carolina as well. You would figure they'd say, the last 2 meetings have been on NC, how about this year's in Dallas?
