Pasqualoni - horrible
Rob Ryan - below average to bad
Kiffin - horrible
Marinelli - average (two good seasons)
Nolan - horrible
Quinn - good (all three seasons good)
Zimmer - horrible
Eberflus - horrible

So in the last 8 DC's that Jerry has hired there has only been one that is good (Quinn), one that is average (Marinelli), one that was below average to bad (Ryan), and FIVE downright terrible choices (Pasqualoni, Kiffin, Nolan, Zimmer, and Eberflus).
now, we can do the defensive players drafted and I bet you its just as bad.

The coaches arent that bad. They need the talent to fit their styles or be able to adjust their schemes to fit their talent. Just another Hate Jerry thread.

The old saying "defense wins championships" can use the Cowboys since 2010 as a promotional campaign.

There were some very, very good offenses in a lot of those seasons that were wasted.

2021-2023.

What changed?

Sorry coach but Marinelli is the reason this team took Taco over TJ Watt and Trysten Hill.

Jerry gives his coaches some say. Problem is, when the coaches are bad, they draft bad players.

Taco over Watt is still one of the worst mistakes this franchise has made, and that is saying a lot.

That was bad, but hes not the only one thay passed on Watt

No he isnt. But when a player like that falls. You take him. I dont care about quick twitch bulljive. Sometimes great players fall.

Look at Lamb.

You have to take the player.

I called the Zimmer disaster even before Jerry hired him when the rumors were floating. I knew two things; Jerry would hire him, and it would be a disaster.

I knew this because Zimmer has always stunk, and stunk it up here in his first stint as DC back in the early 2000s. I think his record for 200 yard rushers given up in one season still stands as an all time shame record.

I caught hell for that on here because in a world of lies, telling the truth is a revolutionary act. Lots of people don't like me because of that, but I have been right about nearly every call I've made these last few years. Things like bringing Zeke back, Dak's contract, getting fleeced in the Parsons trade, Mazi Smith being a bust (called that one in his very first preseason game with the old reliable eyeball test), last year's collapse, this year's collapse, and many more than that.

Although I do have to admit that Zimmer was an even bigger disaster than I thought. He turned Quinn's 5th ranked defense to 31st overnight. I figured we would drop to the 20's, but Zimmer bottomed this thing out and it's still there.
We had the number 1 defense in the parcells era. Mario Edwards was the only weak link on that squad

Didn't Quinn blow a 25 pt lead in a superbowl? That disqualifies him from the good category.

If you're gonna get your *** handed to you, at least go down blitzing the crap out of the opposing offense.

Rod was squeezing water out of rocks. We really didn't help him tbh.
Oh please
The cowboys spent three first round picks
(Lve, Byron jones , and taco charleton) And four second round picks ( Demarcus Lawerence, Randy Gregory, chide awuzie, and Tristen Hill) on defense while Rod was the defensive coordinator . Also , the cowboys signed Steven peae , and Nolan Carroll . The guy was a average defensive coordinator at best and that is being generous

how on Earth was that garbage 2016 D ranked 5th !!

I then realised stats can be misleading as our incredible O line and HOF level Zeke gave us a huge TOP advantage in so many games, it was hard to rack up bad stats sitting on the pine watching our O dominate.

Big Mike hates the AA gap.

We never saw it.

This forum has no clue about anything defense.

People’s expectations about what defense is in today’s game are delusional.

Nearly every NFL defense is bad because the rules handicap them so much.

The Broncos & Browns play the best defense in the NFL.

The rest of the nfl defenses are average.

Dallas is just a different level of bad.

The 2023 matchup with the Packers required our offense to enter a shootout & Dak wasn’t up to it.

The defense didn’t have a great day but that was an elite defense the entire season for this era of football.
Well Dan Quinn fixed the defense entirely in one year. Then in the next 3 years he had a top 10 defense. Yes he had Parsons. But he used him correctly. Zimmer had Parsons and did absolutely nothing.

Quinn was smoke and mirrors. They overachieved stat wise, but it was pass rush and turnovers or they didn't stop anyone.
Exactly they needed The perfect Storm and got it against bad teams when we would make them play from behind.

As soon as we faced good teams with good defenses and couldn't get them playing from behind to create turnovers we were smoked.
Like to playoffs for instance where everybody's good
