That holding call on the Rice TD was the single biggest play in our 90s run IMO. Without that call, the 49ers would won in a rout IMO.

That hold was the difference between a completion and a sack though

Not really, Rice was wide open and I have a hard time believing Young wouldnt have stepped aside a stumbling DT

the defensive tackle was within three feet of him, I don't think that was a completion without the hold

Thanks for the heads up...

What in the world happened to Dale Hansen? He was a color guy, and now he's the lead Boys hater in Dallas.

There was just a play where Russell Maryland chased down Young and grabbed around his neck to make the tackle and Young's helmet came off in the process. Then, Haley landed on Young as he landed..

I'm sitting here waiting for the flag to come in thinking it was a definite Roughing the Passer. No flag though, times have changed :)

uh, whatever HH

I guess you could say without the hold, Young would have got blasted for a sure sack and might have fumbled

That was the best and my favorite game ever. I was 14, grew up with that team, it was so special. I wish the kids in DFW could have seen it back then, hopefully Romo and Co will give them something similar one of these days, but what a special special team, and a special special opponent.

And for the love of God, how AWFUL would it have been had that been played on turf, or indoors? I love me some outdoor grass fields, its the way it should be.

the entire game on VHS. I bought a VHS to DVD recorder a few weeks ago, but I haven't gotten around setting it up. After the season is done, I'm going to start transfering those games. The only one I'm missing is the 1995 NFC Championship game against the Packers.

92 was sweet but the 93 game vs. the Niners is my personal favorite, even with Kosar cleaning up...Johnson guaranteed the victory and they went on to smash the 49ers...and then Eddie & Carmen buy the best team money can buy and...well...you know...

I doubt if they didn't call holding, that San Fran would have won in a route. Dallas was the better team that game and may have found another way to win in having to then come from behind. It would have still been a close game and I doubt one single play turns it into a route. Or maybe it gets Dallas mad for holding not being called and they route the 49ers the rest of the game.

It was an obvious hold that impacted the game. Young may have been able to side step Maryland, but that still would have changed the play. The whole timing would have been lost. Instead of just stepping up and making a throw, Young would have to first get around Maryland and then step up. The position of Rice would have changed, the angle of the throw, the length of the throw and how about other Cowboys' defenders. Good and obvious call.

And if Pup doesn't get dinged on the previous play... If "ifs and buts" were "candy and nuts" we'd all have a Merry Christmas.

All the Cowboy-Niner playoff games have been awesome. Even some that we've lost. There is nothing like two great teams slugging it out.
