With the discussions about qb’s coming back for their senior season, I wanted to look up the QB’s drafted in the 1st round and see how it stood. I might have missed some but I think I got them all.
Some of them, I was unable to confirm that they used all 4 years of collegiate eligibility so I put a ? behind their name.

Here is a partial list of QB’s drafted in the 1st round from 1982 to 2003.

Hall of Fame caliber

1. John Elway SR, 1983

10. Steve McNair, SR (3rd pick Oilers 1995)
11. Kerry Collins, Redshirt SR (5th pick Panthers, 1995)
12. Tim Couch, decent before injuries took him out, JR, 1999

3. Tony Eason SR? (15th pick, Patriots, 1983)
4. Ken O’Brien SR? (24th pick Jets 1983)
5. Chuck Long, SR? (12th pick, Lions, 1986
6. Kelly Stouffer 3yr starter, I believe SR (6th pick, Rams, 1987

6. Aaron Rodgers, JR (24th Packers 2005)
7. Jason Campbell, SR (25th ‘Skins 2005)

None of the great ones left school early, but there are still plenty of Seniors that flopped.

What do you guys (and ladies think)? Does it make a big difference or not?

Carson Palmer is one of the only QBs in the NFL that currently challenges to be the Best.

Give David Carr a few years and maybe a change of scenery. I don't think the problems in Houston are his fault. I'd take him in Dallas.

Too early to tell if Joey Harrington and Kyle Bohler are busts.

David Carr is definately not a bust. He already owns the record for the most sacked QB in a season and is working on duplicating that feat this year.

I don't know what got into me Hos, I am usually way too lazy to look anything up. That's why I like this site so much, you guys usually take care of everything for me.

I have to admit that I was a little surprised that the guys who left early have struggled as much as they have. Only Bledsoe, Dilfer, Vick and Rothlisberger have had any real success. Tim Couch was putting up decent numbers on a bad team, but I can't argue with anyone that considers him to be a bust.

It gives me a little nervous feeling when it comes to Henson. Most of the Juniors that were 1st round draft choices had a lot more game experience than Henson.

How do you figure McNabb HOF?
That's why I said HOF caliber. I was not trying to say that he is a lock for the HOF.

I figure if he continues playing at the level he has for the early part of his career, he will be a hall of famer, if he stops playing well or gets injured, and can no longer play, he won't.

But I don't see how anyone can say that the guy has not been one of the best QB's since he has been in the league.
