With the W, Dallas became just the 2nd team in the SB era, to win when running fewer than 10 times.

Please tell me how sound our entire coaching situation is......

On BOTH sides if the ball no less.....

1st time since 2007 Romo has come out as the winning QB when throwing the ball more than 50 times.

Its a telling stats for folks who keep saying here on CZ that the Cowboys need to open the passing game up even MORE.

Empty backfield all through that final drive. Predictable but successful. This time.

No QB should throw the ball 50 times, not even Peyton Manning.

When people say they need to open up the passing game, they mean they need to be more aggressive, not throw it more. It's obvious our coaches have somewhat handcuffed Romo, it seems like he doesn't take near the deep shots he use to. And that's a problem. We need to have the ability to score on any play with the deep ball and make our opponents respect our passing game. That would do wonders for our running game, and help create a balanced attack.

Not even the threat of play action. The offensive scheme, game plan and play calling, we're disgraceful.

Romo wanted more input in the offseason, and actually demanded it during contract negotiations with owner Jerry Jones.

He's part of the meetings each Tuesday, when the Cowboys put the game plan together. Plays he doesn't like are kicked out.

And Romo has veto power once he gets the play from Callahan, which means he can shift from run to pass or pass to run based on his pre-snap read. Or he can change the play entirely.

Romo hasn't been sharp since the Denver game. I wonder if Garrett wasn't trying to throw him back into a rhythm.

if ESPN.com's stats are right:

1st Quarter:
Murray: 2 carries, 25yds
Dunbar: 1 carry, -3yds
Randle: 1 carry, 3yds
,
2nd Quarter:
Murray: 1 carry, 6yds
Dunbar: 0 carries
Randle: 0 carries

3rd Quarter:
Murray: 1 carry, 0yds
Dunbar: 2 carries, -3yds
Randle: 0 carries

4th Quarter:
Murray: 0 carries
Dunbar: 0 carries
Randle: 0 carries

3 carries in the 2nd half. I thought after Murray picked up 27yds on his 2nd carry that they'd definitely stick with the run. What do I know.

What was strange there was a couple of runs we ran with Dunbar and then threw to Murray in the flat. I would think that would be reversed.

*Also help out a fellow Cowboys fan by checking out the members forums and liking the facebook picture. Should take 10 seconds. Thanks*

But I thought running the ball didn't matter.

I love it when guys try to play on words or fail at being sarcastic. A big time running game in today's NFL means nothing. However, when every person above about 5 years old knows they can drop 8 guys every play because stopping the run would be a waste of time, it's flat out DUMB!!! Regardless of how cute your trying to be, you know good and well you can't win consistently with the type of play calling that was shown today. If not, your the perfect example of the type of fan JJ loves. Where mediocrity is ok and perfectly acceptable..I mean, it's proved with his accomplishment as a GM.

I was actually referring to those in the game thread that were saying that they didn't care if we ran the ball. No kidding its dumb to not run the ball. I've been preaching it for as long as I can remember.

Well, we did have the one offensive drive eliminated by the sack/fumble recovery, and two more drives of hurry-up. And we did score 21 of our 27 points in the second half. Maybe we ran it too much early. :)

Not only that, it puts greater pressure on the OLine. Aikman allude to this on the broadcast today. It's very difficult to pass block that much since you are always back peddling and in a defensive mode. Where else when run blocking, you get to attack the defense and deliver the punishment instead of receiving it.

Also since the defense doesn't have to play the run, they can just pin their ears back and rush the passer.

Yeah yeah......... Rose colored glasses sway the staff here

Everything's rosey when you win, 44. We can run it fewer than 10 times/game from here on out if we win the games while doing it.
