A little over 2 weeks until vet minicamp f-i-n-a-l-l-y gets here. We get a chance to see how our 2nd year players developed during offseason conditioning program, how 06 draft and UDFA players look against the vets & whether last year's injuried players (Riveria, Adams, Singleton, Henry, Beriault, Crayton, Thornton, Ratliff & any others) have fully recovered. I'm not including Burnett cause I know he won't be ready til early August. Also want to hear/see how Pettiti & Colombo play along with Marco Coleman, Pepper Johnson, if Peterman shows any improvement over last year.

I don't expect much from this 3 day minicamp but at least we hopefully should get some news (either during Parcells PC or articles in media) about many of these players. What I don't want to hear is more TO babbling from the media. Thank God Parcells says he'll answer no TO questions until TC. Maybe we really will learn some real Cowboy news rather then what our media laughingly thinks is news.

Who knows, maybe we'll learn enough to come up with a more viable Cowboy projected 06 team--even with a few surprises--to keep us content for a week or so after this minicamp ends cause it's going to be a long wait until end of July.

When July/August TC finally gets here, I think there probably 2-5 more players Parcells wants to keep then he can; this year might be his most difficult year for these decisions. I wonder which vets (we don't have a lot anymore) get cut to make room for those 1-3 young players who show unexpected promise. Parcells last year showed a willingness to cut several vets to make room for guys like Ratliff & Johnson (not counting DE Colemen as a surprise cut this year cause that won't be a surprise).

Gotta say I agree with you Sago, because thedearth of news is killing me. The only problem will be once that mini camp is gone it's a long dry spell until TC.

just get ready for a swarm of warm & fuzzy articles...:

U know the type... the local-boy-does-good rookie FA trying to get a spot on the roster, but will prolly only hit the practice squad. More charity golf tourneys featuring cowboys...

I'm really, really looking forward to those... :banghead:

Is mini camp full contact and pads? There's only so much that can be determined through non-contact drills IMO.

I also think its strange that Philly had their mini camp this early. 2 months is a long time to go between mandatory minicamp and training camp.

I'm preparing myself for my annual "I don't trust a word about any new player in mini camp" philosophy.

Every year we read about some guy who has come out of nowhere who's on the fast track to stardom.

And then he's cut in training camp.

Nope nope nope...I'm not falling for it this year.

:)
