I think they need to go CB then WR. The league is changing and too keep up we need to be able to cover multiple receiver sets more than we need a WR in our offense. TO, Glenn, Crayton, Hurd, Austin, Stanback should be able to handle nickle and dime defensive backs. If Felix Jones is on the board at 28 we need to take him, otherwise we need to get a #1 receiver to groom to take over for TO in 2 years

Just say no to RB in the first round. It would be Fasano II all over again. We can pick up a good back-up type in second/third round.

First round WRs scare me because most of them either suck totally or take loooooonnnnnnnnnnng time to develop. I would rather get a good FA through trade. We can draft someone in second round to develop.

CB is a must and no team, i mean, no team would let anyone good go. We have to draft our own.

My humble plan:

1) use #22 for best available CB.
2a) trade #28 for a young proven WR (William/Fitz). The we draft a RB in later second and a CB again in late third. All BPAs.

2b) iIf no FA trade, we trade away our #28 for a No.2 this year and a No.1 next year. We draft a WR and a RB using our two No.2s. Draft another corner with our No.3.

Cobra: What do you think of Cason? Not in the top 5-6 corners I take it.

I think Cason is probably a 2nd round corner that needs to be in a Cover 2. I certainly like him in general. I think he could be a solid #2 CB. I just don't think he is likely to ever be a pro bowl-type player. Those other 5 I can see it.

After the ones I listed, I think Cason is right there with perhaps Flowers as CBs I would take in the 2nd. With his ball skills, I think Cason would actually make a pretty stellar FS. He is good at playing soft, zone like coverage and make plays on the ball. I'm just not sure he is a special "line up man to man and take WR out of the play" kind of CB.

It's always hard to predict just what's going to happen, I guess a lot depends on what we do in FA.

The thing that worries me is that the DMac rumours just won't go away.

FWIW, I think that we go RB/CB in Round 1, as we will sign a Free Agent WR (not sure who though)

If you can line up Felix Jones as a wideout every know and then with his speed and get more use out of him than 10 carries a game and a few kick returns then I would be for going for him in the first.

If not then I think I would go after one of the WR's available - or if possible just trade a first for Roy Williams would be fine too.

I think CB at 22 is a must, it is 28 that is up for debate for me.

Unless a first round talent drops into the bottom of the round, I don't think we'll ever see both #1's used...I don't think the draft is that deep in round 1. I think it's much more likely that we trade one of our first round picks for more picks, including an early 2nd round pick.

I think we'll take BPA in round 1....CB, RB, WR, depends on who's on the board that is actually ranked as a first round talent that late.

Then we'll fill the other two positions in round 2.

My guess:

1. CB
2a. WR
2b. RB

We'll also be looking at ILB, OG, QB.

Of course, we all know that everything about BPA still depends on what we accomplish in FA.

Drafting for need at CB, WR, RB is just stupid, especially for a team in our current position. You address needs in FA if possible, not only because you have a much better idea of how the player will perform in the NFL, but also because he has the experience to play.

You draft for the future, and straying more than a little from BPA is just stupid. The draft is not about the 2008 season...you hope the top picks will play roles and contribute like Spencer did, but the draft is about the long range quality of your team.
