The problems the cowboys are having are mental, penalties, blown assignments, etc.
You PRACTICE to get the physical and MENTAL part of the game right.
We are a YOUNG team.
Now TO though a hard worker, seems to me to be the kind to be goofing off during practice keeping things "light" if you will (the discovery team uni and so forth) Last I heard BP called off a couple of practices because of lousy execution, it seems our young players cannot concentrate during practice and have "fun" a la TO (maybe he can't either therein the drops). The cowboys are working harder per TO's example, but not better, practice needs to be all business or we will continue to kill ourselves.
Rant off.

How do you practice not getting penalties? They know what they are. They're just stupid. You can't fine them. I guess you could sit them down, but then the drop off in ability is sharp.

I wonder if Purcells practices with refs.

Remember when we heard they were calling Witten Big Easy in camp, since everything was coming so easy to him? Romo has shown us that's true - but we've also seen that "easy" includes one false start penalty per game. Good times.

False start is concentration, if you don't concentrate during practice you won't be able to during the game.

I don't see where you can blame mistakes and penalties on "young players".

Marco Rivera isn't a young player, neither is Witten. Roy Williams is experienced, as are Henry, Aaron Glenn, and Marcus Coleman.

Owens isn't a "rookie" either.

The mistakes are being made by veteran players, not rookies.

I'm not buying any "young team" excuses when it comes to the team making mistakes.

This logic has me scratching my head. Because someone doesn't concentrate 3 days prior they can't concentrate on game day?

I was at that practice and Owens wasn't even a part of practice...he only wore the helmet and jersey for about 15 minutes, only during his bike warmup, then he started doing rehab work with the trainer.

The team was not distracted in the least. The practice was fast paced and went well.

People need to stop eating the crap that the media is feeding them.

One of the reporters in the PC today (no recap today?) mentioned that Parcells had used practice zebras on Friday before, and asked him if he'd done that recently. He said no, he hasn't. No explanation why. It seems like a good question with all the penalties we've had recently... But maybe we aren't doing enough full-speed drills for it to be worth it?

It's all about reps, do them during the week, so you don't need to think during the game. You should be able to look out there see the defense, know your assignment, and get off on the snap count.

Last week Parcells cut practices, it showed.

Rocket science.

Same with blocking on FGs:rolleyes:

If you're just going through the motions during practice, come game time you will be thinking about what you should be doing physically, this should come naturally.

As I stated "seems to me", I have not attended practice, but what little I have gathered from commentaries both here and from the media, that's the idea I get. Does anyone have a theory why we are playing so "undisciplined"?

It would be interesting to do a breakdown on who commits the penalty and their experience, but also you train as a team, if the guy your training with is goofing off it's hard to do things properly, maybe you can't get in a flow because you have to stop to lecture the kid? Again it's all 2 pennies aka my thoughts.

I think it may be a reflection of the kinder, gentler Parcells we seem to have.

There don't seem to be the same consequences that there have been in the past.

Maybe "Father Bill" needs to crack the whip a bit more to tighten things up?

Ergo, why bothering practicing at all....?

Wow, that's quite a leap of logic there. I hope you didn't pull a muscle.

Another posted that is not even remotly close to Dallas or Valley Ranch posting about practices he has never seen nor been close to. I am sure no doubt hs resource is BSPN. I just get so frustrated by hearsay. Do you actually think BP is letting these guys practice "lightly?"
