He'll be big time money if the Pats let him go.

I like him, but he'll probably be taught to not give up big plays rather than make big plays.

I would love to have him but I don't think the Pats will let him get away.

Won't happen for the same reason Parcells laid off Viniteri until it was too late. There is an unspoken rule amoung coaches from the Parcells tree not to go after each others players. There were hard feelings this past offseason when Mangini broke this rule. Parcells will not even have Samuels on his radar for this reason.

Plus, even if he came here he would fade into obscurity unless we have a defensive philosophy change. Our defense would not put him in position to make the plays he's making now. He would become just like Henry, overpaid for his lack of production.

Let's see......Patriots are known for making players who aren't that great when they get away + this was Samuel's contract year + this was (shockingly) the first year Samuel played competently = free agent bust waiting to happen.

Fixing the pass rush is far more important, anyway.

Aaron Glenn makes that same inside break on the ball on the inside cut except he rarely catches it. Hands of stone. :laugh1:

Improve any position they can. Parcells won't target Samuel until other teams do because of those stupid gentlemanly agreements between he and his former coaches, so Dallas won't have much of a chance at him.

Maybe someone should have told Sean Payton about such rule.

Payton only went after guys we didn't want. He traded for them or picked them up after we cut them.

Two bigger words ... PASS RUSH !!!

Samuels will want big money, and no one can cover forever.

Spags has a line about not being able to have "steak on every plate" -- I believe that Henry would play just as well or better than Samuels at CB if we generated the pressure that the Pats do.

in FA... We are paying Roy top SS money, Newman is getting paided top 5 draft money and will need a new deal sooner than later, and Henry didn't exactly come cheap.......... We have to much $$$$$$$$ already invested I believe for us to make a another run and a top CB/top FS in FA IMO.

Now O-line and pass rush that's a different story....:star:

Me too. But I believe teams are built inside out. OL and DL -- or with the 3-4 OL and DL + passrushing OLBs. The "outside" guys - CBs, WR etc. are high profile players but will have less impact than guys who are playing closer to the ball. So instead of spending on Samuels, I'd rather see a Guard, an NT that can get Ferguson off the field for 20 plays more a game, and a pass rush specialist at OLB.

we dont know the real talent level of our players yet. i am not for signinig big name FAs (except pass rusher) until we get a real DC here, upgrade the scheme and see what we already have. henry is not a bad CB and i would be all for drafting one high to develop. let watkins develop at FS, i think he is the goods.
