Mazi's ceiling is JAG, Guyton has potential at least, so Guyton.
I’m with you Jazz. Both need to show much improvement. Mazi, being in his 3rd year probably feels the most pressure. Hopefully that will get him going.https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/12-who-needs-to-take-a-bigger-leap-guyton-or-mazi
Some interesting answers. As these two players have been discussed many times on here already.
I say both need to.
2 say Mazi, 2 say Guyton, as that is more important as to protecting the QB.
Mazi on his 3rd DC in 3 years. But still he was a 1st round pick, for which KC wanted to trade up with Dallas to select him. But Dallas wanted to stay in the 1st round. Mazi was playing better toward the end of last season.
Guyton on his 2nd OL coach as well. But supposedly shown some good signs in OTA's and mini camp. He did have a few minor injuries last season as well, could have held him back a little bit on his development.
We really will not know much from TC, except they may say they are having a good TC. But show us for real in game 1.
He’s on his 3rd different OL coach so I’m willing to cut him some slack. He’s got the size and just needs to dedicate himself more. I heard on one of the podcasts that Solari was preaching one hand down and one hand up or some nonsense like that and the players tried but gave up on it midway through last year. So the coaches get a lot of blame for the offensive line woes last year.Mazi's ceiling is JAG, Guyton has potential at least, so Guyton.

No, the biggest part of standing your ground is EXACTLY THATAnd lack of lateral agility. A big part of standing your ground is being able to mirror the defenders moves coming in. Good DT's don't come in in a straight line, they're moving side to side.
No, it's not. It's staying in front of the defenders. NFL DTs will easily get around you if you just stand there. No, the biggest part of standing your ground is EXACTLY THAT
agility is a plus but planting your feet and standing up the guy blocking on you is the critical factor
Exactly. We just need him to be a legit starter quality player. Can’t have a HOF player at every position. I’m really excited about what we could be on the interior oline. Beebe is gonna be a really good player and we could have 2 really good guards. The key is running the ball. That helps the tackles, that helps the recievers, that helps the QB. If teams have to respect the run it opens up the entire offenseNot just this, but the standard of his position is higher........but I will say this again, he DOESN'T have to be Tyron Smith. Just prove he can hold his water as an NFL starter.
This is silly......you have no clue where these players will be "5 years" from now. Tap down....Mr. Expert (lol)5 years from now....they'll both still be on the team, underperforming, and there will be posts in here in July saying "Mazi is going to breakout this year guys, book it!"
This!!! We don't have any other options on the DL. We have options if Guyton isn't cutting it.Buy i like whos backing up Guyton more than I do Mazi.
Street FAs outplayed Mazi. No chance he is ever an average starter. Guyton might have a chance to at least be adequate. This!!! We don't have any other options on the DL. We have options if Guyton isn't cutting it.
Also, the OL can function without a top notch LT. It has been proven for many years, our interior D is our obvious weak spot and what every team will use to beat us.
I’m gonna go the other way. If Guyton stays the same, he’s still good enough to make the 53. There’s no reason to hold on to Mazi if he doesn’t improve. His career is in the lineGuyton, by a landslide. Guyton has in spades what Mazi does not. Topnotch NFL talent.
Mazi was always going to be limited by his lack of agility. That's why he gets blown off the ball all the time. He's quite simply not an NFL starter.
we are talking about a DT dudeNo, it's not. It's staying in front of the defenders. NFL DTs will easily get around you if you just stand there.
Maybe ur right. This is silly......you have no clue where these players will be "5 years" from now. Tap down....Mr. Expert (lol)
Who said Guyton and Smith are mistakes? Especially after just a couple of years. Both players still have plenty of time. Hell, Mazi showed significant improvement last season but his bar was so low, he needs to do it againIt's not like Jerry ever let's guys linger and linger year after year, refusing to admit mistakes
I find it puzzling when I see several claiming Mazi has all this talent. Hey, go into detail and define what this talent is, because I don't see it. He was soso in college, same as now.Mazi's ceiling is JAG, Guyton has potential at least, so Guyton.
Smith was a huge mistake.Who said Guyton and Smith are mistakes? Especially after just a couple of years. Both players still have plenty of time. Hell, Mazi showed significant improvement last season but his bar was so low, he needs to do it again
Actually, I thought it was you being obtuse!!!!we are talking about a DT dude
And you are deliberately being obtuse. Engaging someone is not just standing there
