I keep seeing how it was a bad draft for us. I was angry with the picks of Carpenter and Fasano, even moreso now that Fasano is in Miami.

I wanted Manny Lawson in the first round, however, he hasn't done much either. He has been injured and slow to pick up the system over in SF.

Since OL and DT are our two biggest concerns, I will ask someone to help me look back at the 2006 OL from the first two rounds, excluding Centers. I do not really keep up with OL, so how have the following players have faired so far?

G Davin Joseph - Tampa
T Winston Justice - Philly
G Deuce Lutui - Arizona
G Daryn Colledge - Green Bay
T Marcus McNeil - San Diego
T Andrew Whitworth - Cincy
T Jeremy Trueblood - Tampa

IMO, our DT woes could not have been solved in 2006, since John McCargo was the only DT taken in the first 2 rounds.

Kind of disqualify yourself to judge or comment on a draft, then...

But I see what you're saying. Fasano was a typical Bill Parcells Jersey-Boy pick, and we all know his connection with Carpenter.

The good thing is, that draft hasn't had too much of a bearing on our current team - we've got plenty of help at the linebacker position and we found Martellus Bennett.

The only name on your list that rings a bell to me is Lutui...other than that doesn't appear to be any worldbeaters from that draft.

Well I know McNeil had a very good rookie season, but I have not heard much about him since then.

I know the Chargers took Cromartie with the next pick....they sure could have used him and passed on Jenkins the next year. I think the year before the Boys passed on Santonio Holmes....that is the one that really hurts

Really? I think Jenkins ends up a better selection than Cromartie when everything's said and done. And I can't see how passing on a WR has really hurt us. I can think of any number of positions where we're in need of more depth than WR.

DT woes? We have one of the best DTs in the game.

i meant depth. Other than Rat, we have nothing. I still think we messed up by taking Brewster instead of Roy Miller this spring. Rat and Miller would have given us an awesome DT duo.

Davin Joseph has been a very solid guard for TB. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think he has made it to at least 1 pro bowl. And Marcus McNeil had a very good rookie year and then slumped his 2nd year but he still a very good LT.

all of these have started one time or another

G Davin Joseph - Tampa
T Winston Justice - Philly
G Deuce Lutui - Arizona
G Daryn Colledge - Green Bay
T Marcus McNeil - San Diego
T Andrew Whitworth - Cincy

We should have drafted Mangold - C

thanks Bill
