I said previously that the 2009 Cowboys resemble the 2007 Giants that went on to win the Super Bowl. After week six, the similarities get even closer.

After week 5 of the 2007 season, the Cowboys were undefeated at 5-0, considered one of the top teams in the NFC. Meanwhile, the Giants were struggling at 3-2, having to come back from behind in the forth quarter to beat the Jets. There were talks that the Giants where undisciplined and many people were calling for the job of HC Tom Coughlin. If the Giants lost to the Jets, there is a good chance he would have been fired.

In the 6th game of the 2007 season, the Cowboys went up against another undefeated team; the New England Patriots. In that game, the Patriots defeated the Cowboys 48-27.

The New York Giants played the Atlanta Falcons in their 6th game of the season and won 31-10.

Fast-forward to 2009:

After week 5 of the 2009 season, the Giants were undefeated at 5-0, considered one of the top teams in the NFC. Meanwhile, the Cowboys were struggling at 3-2, having to come back from behind in the forth quarter to beat the Chiefs. There were talks that the Cowboys where undisciplined and many people were calling for the job of HC Wade Phillips. If the Cowboys lost to the Chiefs, there is a good chance he would have been fired.

In the 6th game of the 2009 season, the Giants went up against another undefeated team; the New Orleans Saints. In that game, the Saints defeated the Giants 48-27.

The Dallas Cowboys play the Atlanta Falcons in their 6th game of the season...

I'm just sayin'......

Very very interesting, we need our D to start jelling and I'm feeling the Williams/Austin aerial attack backed by our 3 RB's will take us far.

That is also another comparison that I didn't mention; the Giants 3 RB rotation compared to the Cowboys 3 RB rotation. The three styles are very comparable, though I think the Cowboys trio is more explosive.

That Giant team was under the radar for most of that season until that last game against the Pats when they really played inspired football. They had a lot of ugly performances that year before turning it around when it counted. We'll see how we handle the problems they were able to handle this year.
