Who do you think are the Head Coaches around the NFL who need big years to save their hides? Kepe in mind that Dungy and Holmgren have already announced that it's their last year. They don't count.

Wade Phillips, Cowboys. Like it or not, Garrett is the heir apparent and the media knows it so they will focus on it and ramp up the pressure.

Andy Reid, Eagles. Right or wrong, he's on it. The QB questiosn that linger and his sons have added to the heat.

Lovie Smith, Bears. You can blame it on not having a viable QB. I would, but the Bears Management won't.

John Fox, Panthers. Bill Cowher now resides in North Cackalackee. There will be pressure.

Jon Gruden, Buccaneers. The QB collector saved his butt by making the playoffs last year or he might have been axed already.

Mike Nolan, 49ers. Mike Holmgren will be available and will want the 49ers job.

Marvin Lewis, Bengals. If the turmoil continues they will make a change to try and stop it.

Lane Kiffin, Raiders. Al "The Crypt Keeper' Davis doesn't want the guy. Any excuse will do.

I don't think Wade Phillips or Jon Gruden are on the hot seat this season. Brian Billick, Rod Marinelli, and Eric Mangini should be on that list.

Unless Wade wins SB and is going for back to back - he is gone

Reid will stay and start Kolb - he will get time to develop him.

Lovie - I have no idea

Fox - Prob gone

Gruden - Stays and gets more time to get that team going

Marvin - love the guy but he had a bushel basket full of too many bad apples... feel bad for him and Palmer

Lane - that is a weird situation over there... they just may fire him midseason and give him all the money.

I would add Romeo "wherefore art thou playoffs" Crennel. He's assembled loads of talent now and has to produce.

Gruden definitely. Say, suppose Wade gets canned this yr. How about defensive coordinator John Gruden? Anybody?

Or would Campo be likely to return to that spot?

I think Marvin Lewis and Lane Kiffin will get fired during the season.

Wasn't Lovie Smith just signed to a new contract last year? If so, then he is safe no matter what happens.

Wade is not in the hot seat. He is just keeping the seat warm. He is gone after this year win or lose anyway. He is a lame duck coach, so there is no real pressure.

I will throw in Mike Shanahan. The Broncos cannot miss the playoffs. If they do, he will be in trouble.

Gruden is an offensive coach.

I've never thought of him as an Offensive guy. I suppose due to his superb defenses his clubs are often associated with. Well, maybe it rubbed off on him.

The whole reason the Jets spent so much money this offseason is because Mangini and Tannenbaum know their jobs are on the line.

And would anyone really be surprised if Zorn is canned if the Commanders are a disaster this season?

Oakland did not have a great defense when he was there. The Tampa defense was built by Tony Dungy and Monte Kiffin who stayed on as DC when Gruden arrived.

No, then we can have Joe Gibbs 3.0

Right. That's what I meant..Dungy/Kififin rubbing off. Still think he's capable coach, and young.

After "Black, maroon, and yellow?" No, I would be too shocked. We are talking Napoleon Snyder and his fantasy football quest after all.

I doubt it. It is rare that a guy is good at coaching both offense and defense. Tom Landry was great at both.

Well, when the primary reason you're hired is "I dunno, I just kinda had a good gut feeling about him when I talked to him in the interview", I don't consider that strong footing.

'Good gut feelings' last right until the first ugly loss.
