Sure you would, you have 20 million in cap space this offseason. That is more than enough to sign Nicks, Campbell, and another player and re-sign some other players.

Campbell is sick. I doubt they let him walk.

the Cardsmight not have an option.
They just paid Dockett big money last year, so Campbell will atleast want that much if not more.
They may want to franchise him but that would cost them a whole lot more this yea than just resigning him.
Who's to say Campbell wants to stay in Arizona?
It's not always up to the team.

With Calais Campbell being 6'8" and 300, and 25...I'd go the salary for the DE and take OG Nicks as well, he's just 28. Then the draft could pull down a linebacker, corner, and a safety with ammo for developments later. Perhaps a quarterback to bring up behind Tony Romo and McGee.

That would sure change the present scenery in Dallas.

On that note, i've been thinking about this for a couple weeks, but how attractive do you think Dallas is for FA's right now?

Are we still a team that alot of guys want to come to right now, or are players a little leary of coming to JerryWorld to play?

Houston kept on adding talent, and Dallas is every inch where they presently are as to potential, except in the box area. But Houston has had more draft access at the top. The Cowboys have to at least be a notch above someone going to Houston. Otherwise you are talking agent and contract size. Philadelphia even forked out the cash for Asumghua.

I say yes, due to Dallas bing on the verge of the playoffs, Ryan being a players coach, Dallas being in the spotlight, and the money Jerry will hand over will be as much or more than anyone else.

i'd rather go Soliai at NT (cheaper than campbell) and let Rat do what campbell does at DE

if we want OG also, i doubt we could get both soliai and campbell

i really feel that Rat wears down late in games and later in the season and that is part of the reason for our late season issues and recent late in-game 'collapses'

so we could have

Soliai NT, Rat DE and sign Nicks

or

Rat NT, campbell DE, and sign Nicks

why not all 3, I'm not high on Soliai, he got paid big money this year being franchised and has been as good as last year.
Only 22 tackles and one stuff this year.
I would rather get Antonio Garay or Sione Pouha. Then sign Campbell and moe Ratliff to DE. Then sign Nicks and re-sign some players and you are set. with 20 million in salary cap space, all this can happen with ease.

Soliai is pretty decent. As poorly as Miami has played on Offense this year, they are 13th in total defense but more importantly, they are 3rd against the run in the entire NFL. Soliai is very good at what he is paid to do, which is control the entire middle of the LOS. He is a force.

this is really an important point to remember here

miami is not outscoring anybody

so it is not like they score a bunch of points and the other team starts passing to try and catch up and abandons the run which makes their run defense look better than it actually is

against a team like miami, you go in thinking "we have a chance to be in this game so lets establish the run"

If you ask the LB's on the Dolphins what they think of Soliai's play, they'd tell you a different story. They all rave about the guy because he does what a NT is supposed to do. He won't have the stats, but he holds up potential blockers at the LOS and allows them to flow to the ball much more easily. If we had him here this year, i think we're a top 5-7 defense.

On that kind of scorecard, Keith Brooking was past done before he became a Dallas Cowboy a couple seasons removed now.

What does that say about James then? Brooking is out producing James THIS season. And James is the supposed starter.

James is done. Ryan only plays him b/c he does not have much choice.

As for Spencer.. how many SOLB's in the league would you take over him right now?

Von Miller
Lamar Woodley
Mario Williams
Clay Matthews
Connor Barwin
Aldon Smith
Ryan Kerrigan
Kamerion Wimbley
Antwan Barnes
Shaun Phillips
Ahmad Brooks
Jason Taylor

And these 4-3 DEs would also be better at SOLB than Spencer:

Jason Pierre-Paul
Julius Peppers
Jason Babin
Chris Clemons
Robert Mathis
Justin Tuck
Cliff Avril
Trent Cole
Michael Johnson

And after the draft, this list gets longer. Spencer is so overrated on this board.
