Analysis
The pre-draft clamor surrounding Sheldon Rankins had been growing throughout January, but the hype reached a deafening volume at the Senior Bowl in Mobile last month, and with good reason. Rankins, a fire hydrant of stacked muscle at 6-1, 304 pounds and nearly 33-inch arms, was unstoppable in almost every drill, consistently putting his athleticism, power, and bevy of pass rush moves on display.

As an evaluator, you want to see the same tendencies on tape in live action, and Rankins certainly doesn’t disappoint. The defensive lineman played a lot of defensive end in Louisville’s base 3-4 defense, but saw time at five and three technique spots a good bit due to the Cardinals multiple front system. Rankins shows plenty of ability at both positions, even when he had to hold the edge against longer offensive tackles. He and Auburn’s Shon Coleman had some good battles in the run game, but Rankins hand placement and arm extension won out more often than not.

Rankins is the only way I see them going with a true 1 Tech early because he also translates into a 3rd down pass rusher. Problem is I don't see him lasting to our 2nd pick.

I think he is severely under ranked. He may be the best all around d-lineman coming out this year, above even Bosa. We wouldn't be reaching if we took him 4th overall imo.

If the Cowboys were able to walk away with Rankins and Reed...I would support a whole Scout Troop because I would be such a happy camper.

Rankins and Cravens and i would consider any move after that icing on the cake.
