2016 NFL Draft: Why Jalen Ramsey Is the Next Eric Berry

The NFL features many of the best athletes in the world competing at the highest level of professional football. The standard for playing certain positions is higher than others based on the supply of elite playmakers.

Quarterback and safety are the two positions that stand out the most as lacking quality.

Rarely do teams have the chance to acquire a top-end talent at safety. The last elite free safety prospects came out of college in 2010, when Tennessee's Eric Berry was selected fifth overall by the Kansas City Chiefs and Texas' Earl Thomas went 14th overall to the Seattle Seahawks.

Florida State Seminoles defensive back Jalen Ramsey has the ability to be as good as both of those players.

The versatile junior has experience at safety, outside cornerback and nickel cornerback. Ramsey spent a majority of his time as a safety and nickel cornerback in 2014, then moved to cornerback full time in 2015

OK, so lack of turnovers aside, do you feel like this staff can coach this guy up to be all he can be? The lack of turnovers forced is troubling.

I mean, if Bosa is gone you have to consider this pick. Jones, Scandrick, Mo (if we resign him), and Ramsey are a damn solid Secondary. Spend free agent resources on the D-line and let Marinelli go to work.

If your dead set on upgrading run support (thus Bosa pick) then I would rather team go after DT Billings. The tape on him is ridiculous. My guess is he goes 18-30.

Ramsey is a very good player and I think his best NFL position is at FS. I wonder how fans would answer if he were to turn out being Ed Reed, is he worth the 4th pick in the draft? Just something I was thinking about as I continue looking at these prospects.

Not saying he will be Reed but hypothetically speaking...he was guaranteed to be Ed Reed would Ramsey be the pick at 4 with Goff likely gone at 2 or 1?

Very impressive.
He's going to move up the draft board when all have a chance to see him chase down a runner 30 yds down the field.
He'll easily be in the top 20, IMO.

Again...not saying he can be or is a Reed type. The query is...IF it was a guarantee that he were to be Ed Reed part II...would you and others be OK with taking him at 4 or is it QB or bust?

I am completely against drafting a DB or Lb in the top 5,if we trade down then its not a problem.

Do you not realize how silly your question is?

If anyone was guaranteed to be a HOF player, you take them at 1 in every single draft...

What the heck are you thinking?

How can you guarantee that?

Merely a hypothetical. Especially in light of how there are many on the board that are dead set on Goff or Lynch or Wentz. Merely wondering if they would be averse to getting someone else even if they were magically guaranteed that he would be a HOF player at a position they don't view as worthy of the 4th pick.

My apologies for offering a hypothetical to guage how dead set folks are on getting a QB that hopefully won't play for two or three years.

I don't think anyone would rather draft one of these qbs than getting ed Reed..

In in the qb camp myself...but i only want Goff
