Right then! First order of business for the offseason (not counting the coaches) is to get a really solid DT. Yes, Woods has been good, but we clearly didn't have an answer for CJ Anderson again. Our defence on the whole this season was good, but they weren't quite as good on the road as at home. So, I think that one of the areas that needs addressing is a proper DT. So, that's the first position on the shopping list. Here are a few more:

  • CB - Let's face it, as well as Awuzie and Jones played, we need a bit more depth there
  • S - Need some upgrades there
  • C - In case we lose Frederick again. Looney was good, but I'd rather have him at LG.
  • WR - could use a bit more depth as we're likely losing Beasley and maybe others.
  • DE - In case we don't resign Lawrence. Even if we do, I'd like to rotate another player in to keep us rested there.
What have I left off? Feel free to add more to the shopping list or take off things that you don't think we need. Note - coaches are for a different thread.

Here's where I'm at Fur. I'm looking at positions that I think could most easily be upgraded. If I address a position, it doesn't mean I dislike the incumbent, but that I think they should be strong backups not par starters.

1. Offensive coordinator- is the easiest upgrade for me. Coaches don't impact cap, so Jerry should throw max OC money at someone like Kubiak

2. Special Teams coordinator and returner- I'd like to bring back Tavon and have him return all season. I knew our special teams would take a hit when we lost Rich, but it was even worse than I thought. Same as above throw a bunch of money at an innovative mind.

3. Box safety- Heath is a nice guy and hard worker but should not be starting in the NFL. Luckily safeties are super cheap now a days. Good option would be Kenny Vacarro who we tried to trade for in 2017. Played really well for the Titans this year other than his injury.

4. Backup RB/catch specialist- I want Chris Thompson assuming the Skins do indeed cut him.

5. 1T- Woods is good but would prefer as backup. I'm looking at Danny Shelton who will surely move on from the Patriots. The Browns rush defense really took a hit this season without. Give me the former first rounder with Rod's magic.

6. Tight end- Demetrius Harris will be this year's Trey Burton. Mark. My. Words. I think he might cost a lot so I might go the draft route instead. But since TEs take some of the longest to develop and me wanting to take advantage of Dak's contract I'm going all in next year.

7. Big body slot- I'm assuming Hurns and Beasley won't be here next season. Copy the Rams and use big guys as your slot receivers. They used them to chip Lawrence a ton last night and it was very effective. This should be a draft pick or two.

8. 3T- Collins is good, but prefer him as backup. Irving with his head on would have been perfect for this.

9. Swing Tackle/Defensive end depth/and CB5- Draft and develop

are those numbered by priority?

I would love to get Kubiak. He'd be perfect for our offense. St coach is needed. Box safety is useful. That's certainly a need. I forgot about backup RB but we don't really have anything useful behind Zeke. 1tech is one I identified I believe lol. TE is a good draft priority. I think we'll be okay with slot if Hurns comes back healthy. But, I'm not against drafting one. 3t is good, and swing tackle is another need.
