Just maybe what he sees in practice has more to do with what is between the ears?
I laugh at those people that think physical traits is all that matters
Tom Brady was not that big certainly not fast or mobile; and only had an above average arm
Jumongous Russell was BIG had a cannon for an arm and was very mobile
Now which was a bust and which was the GOAT?
If Ewers was playing well, you might have a point.

Fact is Sark declared Ewers the starter as soon as he decided to skip the draft. It was never an open competition. Many were shocked Arch didn't transfer knowing he was not going to get a fair shot at the job.

The Brady reference is not relevant here. Nobody is comparing either of these guys to Brady who, fyi, also didn't get a fair shot in college.

sorry dude just because your last name is manning means you are not entitled to anything.
I know all about Brady and he did get a shot; not sure it was totally fair but he did. I was watching Michigan back then because of where I lived; really could not get away from their games. HE was a late bloomer; I never thought he was going to be all that until about his third year in the pros. People want to forget the first few years he was pretty much a bus driver.

Ewers played pretty well mostly; and once again YOU are not at the practices so talking about a fair shot is garbage.

The ACC and Big 12 are full of just ok teams, but none great this year.

This makes the race for the 4th highest-ranked conference champion (and 4th seed 1st round bye) interesting!

If BYU loses, Boise State (with only 1 narrow loss to #1 Oregon) could move up and snatch that 4th spot!
Would be comical to see the meltdown from the "Power Conferences"

Also, I think Miami may be a bit of a paper tiger. They could even lose one before the ACC title game. If they lose to SMU, would the Ponies be rated higher than Boise St? Their one loss would be to BYU and BSU's to Oregon. Hmm

I have no idea, just throwing out scenarios

Here is where those schools are currently ranked in the College Football Playoff Poll

4) Miami (ACC)
9) BYU (B12)
12) Boise St (WAC)
13) SMU (ACC)

The talent is there at Miami so its not a paper tiger in that respect.
But I kind of get what you mean otherwise.

Doesn't the top ranked team from non-power conferences get an auto bid?

Yes.
I was talking about moving all the way up from 12 seed to 4 seed.
If BSU is in ranked higher than a conf champ from one of the P4 conferences, that would happen

I'll take your word for it b/c I'm too lazy to look it up.

BYU and Miami are both really good teams.
Big 10 has some "really" good teams.
SEC is very questionable at this point. Not sure they have any team that is really good on both sides of the ball. We will know a lot more about Georgia after the next two weeks.

Beauty of a 12-team playoff is we will get a lot of good football and conferences will have to provide more than 1 team.

lets face it, SEC usually has two or maybe at most three super teams and then also rans like most conferences. THIS year they have no super teams. Now they do have a number of teams that clearly can beat each other on any given day. Georgia is handicapped by a QB that is Jekyl And Hyde and this year more Hyde than Jekyl and their D is not what it was
Alabama simply is not all that and the coaching has not been as great as before. Texas is really good but still meh.
Tennessee also is really good but just not great.

Had a feeling Miami was going to have trouble at Ga Tech this weekend.
That's not an easy place to play this year.
Plus, Miami has been falling behind and rallying to beat so-so competition all year

Maybe they pull it out again
Down 21-10 but more than a full quarter still remaining and a great QB leading them.
They are great at rallying.

Very fun weekend for College football.

And it was capped off with a good Holy War rivalry game.

Prior to the season nobody would have guessed that BYU would be where it is and Utah would have that many losses.

BYU just does not seem to be that good but they are getting the job done. Utah really has come apart which is very surprising.

I can't wait for teams like BYU and Indiana to play an SEC team in the playoff. Who do you think would be favored in a showdown with UGA, Bama, or Texas? It's not hard to figure.
The SEC is just as hard as ever. It just eats itself b/c there are too many really good teams. You can't even take Kentucky and Vandy for granted this year.
