While I hate the tide
right now they are the best team in the SEC
Which tells you all you need to know about the SEC this season.
Bama didn't just lose by 14 to a bad FSU team the defense fully quit and refused to tackle during that game that wasn't as close as the 14 points makes it seem.
SEC is easily the deepest conference, but it also lacks any top 5 caliber teams.
Bama is maybe the 8th best team in the country.
Of their 5 SEC games 3 have been 1 score games.

I hate Aggie but I do believe they are better than Bama. That is actually a quality football team. They have just had a sleepwalk of an SEC schedule where they haven't faced a single team from the top half of the SEC yet.

Miami will be on the outside looking in. Their remaining schedule is not going to help them and they will need teams to lose to make the playoffs.
That seems pretty likely at this point.
Only way in is to make and win the ACC CG IMO which will take a lot of ACC losses.

No SEC teams are top 5?

Who are your top 5?
Clearly OSU and Indiana. But who are the other 3?

I guess it's all talk right now anyway. We'll know more come playoff time.

I think ACC is full of overrated teams more than the SEC. Not sure where someone gets that SEC is overrated. Powerhouses and future NFL draft picks everywhere. Teams full of Top 25 schedules. You can fake it in the other conferences though.

SEC homers are looking less and less credible

Pedo St goes down :D
ND wins

WVU wallops Houston...who had that on your college football bingo card?

No ACC teams in the top ten. Miami and GT losses really hurt the ACC.

Was not feeling all that great this weekend so did not watch as much.

I do know that sometimes I like the late game, other times not so much.
This was one of those not so much times as I was looking forward to the Utah/Cincy game but it starting at 10:15 PM on the EST....Come on guys.

I do enjoy your pain as a loyal Irish fan

but yeah could understand if the game was in Hawaii but there is no excuse for not starting any game later than 6PM local time; 7PM at the absolute latest

I'll duck after throwing this out there.

Not that anyone cares, or even should care.....

but I think Dollar Bill has UNC playing much better the last 3 weeks.

They kind of flipped the roster and found the guys from the scrap heap that he preferred. They lack personnel, though.

Okay....on to more important stuff.

it is all talk for now.
1. indiana
2. ohio state
3. byu
4. oregon
5. texas tech

the main thing I have against highly ranked SEC teams is that I have watched them play.
none of them have touched the dominance these top 5 have shown most weeks of the season.
could even include utah who has 2 losses but has won the other 7 games by at least 31 points.
SEC isn't in rock fights every week because the league is so good.
it is a rock fight because the teams seldom if ever play well in all 3 phases.
any mid 2010s Bama team or 2022 Georgia would be winning these games by 30 with 3rd stringers playing in the 4th quarter.

it is unfortunate that so many SEC teams will be over ranked but the CFP will tell us all the real truth at the end of the year.

Random games that I'm curious about this week
  • Texas Tech at BYU (pretty massive game for B12 and Playoff)
  • Texas AM at Mizzou (Aggies be careful)
  • Tulane at Memphis (G5 implications)
  • Iowa St at TCU
  • Indiana at PSU
  • Oregon at Iowa (trap?)
  • LSU at Bama
  • UTSA at USF

my homer games are weak.
  • ECU vs Charlotte (arrgh Pirates!)
  • UNC vs Stanford

bill's impact is showing on that defense finally; but it is a tough row to hoe now given how hard it will be to get kids committed.
73-year-old coach coming off a terribad season is a tough, tough sell.
he needs a GM with a much better eye than Lombardi.

pretty bad week tbh.

That Tech vs BYU game was pretty easy for College GameDay given that slate. Biggest game in Lubbock since 2008.
Tulane vs Memphis is sneaky good. Could be a CFP berth on the line.

Jeff Traylor at UTSA is one heck of a coach but his best kids get poached every season and its wearing on him.
He wants to stick around and wait on UT job to open but I do wonder how he'd fair at some place like Baylor.

TAMU-Mizzou would interest me if the quarterback was playing but less so now.
Iowa State defense is too banged up to do much this year. TCU should score 30 and ISU can't touch that mark.
LSU-Bama will probably be Bama playing 1 half worth of good football to get a win.

Bama/Lsu could be interesting
quite often right after a coach is fired the team responds if the Interim coach is any good

Bama is at home and a loss almost certainly knocks them out of the CFP.
There is no way the SEC lets them lose, lol.

This weekend is going to be a bore. The snow is falling, temps around 12 degrees and not one of my teams are playing in any sport. It was the perfect time to couch surfing Saturday without the wife bugging me because we can’t go anywhere :muttley:

There aren’t but a few games worth watching
