It looks like you can draw a line from the day he incurred the hand injury. It's been a tale of 2 seasons. His draft stock has taken a hit for sure. But, he's one of these guys who can easily shoot up draft boards if he has a good pro day workout. I also don't know much about who he's got to throw the ball to. He faced a murders row of defense in the SEC.
All fair points.
Mateer is just a junior so he definitely should not come out.
He'd be far better off back in the portal and making a Mil+ at another P4 stop if OU wants to move on.

I thought he was overrated BEFORE OU signed him.
Not that he is in any way bad and he is definitely a solid P4 starting QB just that he wasn't where he was ranked. Which was generally #1 portal QB and a Heisman favorite.
That's proven to be untrue on both fronts by a wide margin.

He seldom had good career games of both passing and rushing. And far too many games where he couldn't get to 185 yards passing even at WSU.

Most OU fans on twitter thought he was OUs worst player last week. He missed a ton of throws.

The guy he most reminds me of is Avery Johnson.

He is definitely the best RB in college football right now and I do not hate it all.

But he also bombed the first two weeks in losses and the Heisman can't bomb out in losses.

He 100% deserves to be in NYC.
And if Notre Dame had big time games ont he schedule he could showcase in that would give him a chance to elevate above top 4-5 area but he doesn't.

I do not love Notre Dame like you but I have zero hate towards them.
I went to the same church in Pleasant Grove as Tim Brown while he was on his Heisman run.
so when an O line is terrible the back is at fault?
ND had serious O line problems early in the season so of course you blame the back

The OL was definitely an issue, and they were retooling it.
But that is not how the Heisman works.
.
It goes every year to the best player who performed best on the biggest stage.
Love's biggest stage was the first two weeks.

He is a stud, but he isn't winning the Heisman.
I am a huge Jacob Rodriguez fan but he isn't winning the Heisman either.

It is going to go to one of Mendoza, Sayin, Marcel Reed.
They have massive games and stages left this season before the votes.
Notre Dame only has coach-less Stanford.

looking around at those talking about it, he is not out of it. Depends on what the others do; this year there is no standout

You will watch and see it unfold just as I suggest it will.

Again, its simply whats possible and what isn't.
Love is 2nd or 3rd right now with a game against lifeless Stanford left that plays at 9:30PM....
He has virtually zero chance to move up.

Sayin gets Michigan then Indiana.

Mendoza gets Ohio State.

Reed gets UT then Georgia/Bama/Ole Miss.

Love is the best RB in the country and Doak Walker and any other RB award is his.
But like Jacob Rodriguez his best hope is going to NYC for the ceremony.

The QB who gets the big wins is going to get the trophy.

that is probably true but maybe not.

I was curious since the Big 10 went back to no divisions is there still a conference championship?

jeremiyah love had 147 total yds and 2 td's in notre dame's 1pt loss to texas a&m.
that game will not be the reason if he doesn't win the heisman.
and when the tv guys talk about him for the heisman....its the usc game they talk about.
not what happened in games 1 and 2.
but a&m did not shut down jeremiyah love...94yds rush...1 rush td...over 4yds a tote....53yds rec...1 rec td.
the hurricanes were much more affective....but his performances since has errased that and in no way will be what keeps him from winning the heisman.
its a QB award.
that more than anything is what he has to over come.

Well, Texas was supposed to be a top team at the beginning of the year so what happens early on is rather less important except if you have an agenda
Right now Love is the top RB in college football and I love that you hate that
love had 147 total yds vs a&m and scored 2 tds.
i believe notre dame's struggles on defense early in the season contributed to that 1pt loss.
love kept us in that game.

Yes. tOSU vs Indiana unless there's an upset beforehand
That will be a good game. Although I was hoping for the big 10 at #1 and #2 seed for playoff. Not sure why exactly since I'm an Iowa fan lol

If the game is close, they both still may be top 4 and get 1st round byes.

Quintavious Wisner is the most underrated RB in college football.
